He is too slow and not physical enough. He plays well against poor teams in Spain and is a flat track bully. United should have signed someone like Soyuncu from Leicester. I could be wrong but I think it's another blunder from them. They seem to fail with nine out of ten transfers. They are easily influenced by the media and tend to buy over-hyped players.
For what it's worth I think Maguire has been a great signing for them and I rated him at Leicester. He is not that quick but his positional awareness and strength is excellent. Varane is nowhere near the level of Maguire.

Too slow?

Funny that Pogba being linked to the only club the scum think have money and can pay his wages!

Glazers are so worried he is of to Madrid next summer for nowt! Well think Pogba has always set his sites in Madrid oh funny they know Madrid are skint there no rumours of Pogba are of to Madrid in a 100m deal is there?!

For 3 weeks the nation was meant to be united, Southgate said there would be no talk of transfers and yet all we heard was Sancho to the rags. Now when he could sign there is silence from the scum.
Fuck I hate them.

He looked slow when he was humiliated by City. The PL is nothing like La Liga. Let's wait and see. My money is on him flopping at United but you never know.

Can't judge a player on the basis of two games when he might have been carrying a knock, under specific instructions etc. Sergio Ramos looked a shadow of himself against Chelsea, coming back from injury and not getting involved with play.

He has started three champions league finals and won them all, he is a mainstay in the current world champions and European runners-up in 2016, 79 caps.

He can play on either the left or right centre back positions and his all round play is outstanding. He should be a natural partner for Maguire. It would strengthen them and weaken Real Madrid, so it is bittersweet from our point of view.

Top defenders can play in any of the top leagues. As the least aggressive of Real Madrid's first choice centre-backs over the last decade, I wouldn't expect him to have a poor disciplinary recovery.

Mostly wishful thinking on your part I think.

Ok, this may show he can make up ground ,but also shows that he has very poor positional awareness.

Most of those clips are involving attacks on the transition, look around and where are the other defenders most of the time?

Madrid are used to having lots of the ball and playing a high-line, which means they will concede chances on the transition when they don't successfully press from the front. Fantastic insurance to have a player that has that recovering running ability.

Signed former City academy player Sancho for £75m. Nice littler earner for us.

Where attacking players careers go to die.

Outside of Fernandes, every big attacking signing they've made has flopped and even he only shows up against cannon fodder.

Not one to worry about.

Unless they make more signings they'll be fighting for 4th, behind us, Chelsea and Liverpool.
