CAS judgement: UEFA ban overturned, City exonerated (report out p603)

No good business would volunteer information on the inner workings of how it functions to rivals
Make no mistake, this is a fishing expedition for the fallen giants
But why not defend our position? It would be easy to publically say that both ourselves and the PL would have preferred to keep the legal discussions private because our reputation had been damaged by leaks from the previous UEFA case and malicious media campaigns. We could stress that we will be fully open and transparent when the legal process is complete. Our business had been attacked by negative media campaigns involving our commercial rivals in the past and for these reasons we are reluctant to share all our private business discussions with our commercial rivals. You get the jist. Saying "No comment" is an absurd position to take in the modern digital age. This is not an active criminal prosecution or even an active Civil Action yet so there is no risk of contempt of court. We are too passive.

Can't find anything about this in the German media. Maybe they also got bored of the endless repetitions of the same old crap, of which we are already cleared.

You can't allow a negative or false story to fester. Khaldoon should do an interview or private briefing for starters.

I agree with the sentiment entirely but it's a bit late. We would be opening up a debate with 100% of the media and 100% of the football clubs, all of whom have something to gain by dragging this out. There is no rational debate to be had, no statement Khaldoon or anyone else could make that would stop the witch-hunt. Besides, there is an ongoing investigation the outcome of which we don't yet know. At least until it's over, I think we should maintain a dignified silence.

And if they succeed, we should release a statement revealing every skeleton in the whole shitty PL closet.

I broadly agree about timing. The last thing you want to do is "give a negative story legs" and prolong it. The biggest problem which worries me is the impact on our fans and potential sponsors. This negative "corruption claim" has stuck with us for ten years now. I believe it has certainly had an impact on our reputation and slowed the growth of our fanbase.
Just at a time when football is emerging from the Covid crisis and we need to get some of our fans back in the ground, and sell season tickets and sponsorships, we are under attack again. It is damaging our reputation and not just here. For example the CFG New York City stadium plan was undermined by opposition from human rights activists who don't like the politics of Abu Dhabi. There is a bigger picture here.
The least we should do is rebut the false claims for a starter. The most absurd of today's stories asks the question: "How can City's commercial income be £600m higher than other big six clubs in the last 10 years." We have won five Premier Leagues in that period.

You're right about the commercial damage, of course, that is the main aim of the "orchestrated campaign". Thing is, if City start arguing you have a multi-billion pound organisation arguing with the nutter on the bus. At what point do you cease arguing ? The nutter will go on forever.

I think the financial results show we are overcoming the damage, not as quickly as we should be admittedly, but we're doing okay.

Taking a wider view, all this is very damaging for the PL product. What happens on the pitch is moving lower and lower down in the discussion since we have dominated. Now it's all about finances and controlling the outcome. So they strip us of titles and give Liverpool and United, the architects of the ESL, a couple more each ? Doesn't exactly reflect well on the "competition" does it ? If I was the PL, I'd be trying to stifle this disgraceful episode with as little fanfare as possible.

Yes and also our sponsorships tend to be for whole cfg not just one club. So blatantly Liverpool and United behind it when any others with wealthy owners PSG, Milan's, Atletico all get free passes.

Harris has obviously gone out of the way on this attack, done a lot of background and secret work, and is involved with Pinto’s lawyers.

So Pinto, via his lawyers, is still hell bent on helping another football governing body, this time the PL

It’s clear as day what Pinto, his lawyers, Harris and the Daily United are up to.

Here's a potential kicker for Man City's fate. Pinto's lawyers have told me he is willing to help the Premier League in any investigation into alleged Man City wrong-doing. Back page, MoS.
I suppose it’s possible that Harris has had direct contact with Pinto’s lawyers, but dodgy journalists love to write this kind of thing to make it appear they have some kind of unique inside knowledge. Pinto’s lawyers said at the time of his trial that he was keen to cooperate with the relevant authorities investigating his supposed revelations in all kinds of areas, and Harris might well be interpreting this as him being told personally.

I fucking cannot give less of a shit about this and yet here I am being forced to.
I’m so fucking tired of reading how evil city are, how we’re ruining everything by having the audacity to spend money.
The best form of defense is to attack.

Until the club does, this will always continue, I simply don't understand why as a club we allow it and more important from the owners point of view, why does he allow his Nation of be totally insulted and abused?

It occupies four pages in one of the UK's biggest selling newspapers, and is all over one of the world's biggest media websites, it has been re-tweeted by millions of people across the globe (mostly bitter LFC and MUFC fans). It exists all right and continues to damage the reputation of the club we all love and support.
The club's refusal to tackle this ongoing smear has already damaged us. This latest story really is a crock of shite but ignoring it suggests to our critics we have something to hide. "No comment" is always regarded as "guilty" by the masses. Our passive PR strategy (which may make sense when you consider the bigger CFG picture) has done no favours for City for the last 10 years.
100% correct.

Fucking yawn.

Harris is happy to dish it out both against the club & us fans.... trouble is like all wankers, not happy getting a little back.

Slanted shite produced by a paid shrill. Pinto? Rag/dipper or backhanded to give evidence....not exactly trustworthy so maybe he is a rag or dipper.

As it stands some twat will no doubt make comment at golf today who I'll bat away in 10 seconds as they'll have nothing after a headline quote.

I do wish City would play attacking rather than a flat back 9 though.
