US Politics Thread

Same.

I'm sure he's a nice guy, but he does get himself tied up in knots on here and it always ends up a petty point scoring contest.
The best option would be a block button like on Twitter where we don’t see him, he doesn’t see us. Anyone could then simply avoid the whole turgid mess because, let’s face it, no “debate” has ever been anything other that shite.

@Ric I’m guessing no solution was ever found fir that version of the block button?

I see a certain poster has derailed the thread again.

Honestly, the ignore button works, unless of course you like cyclical arguments and endless point scoring?
I would suggest if you speak on behalf of your self that is your opinion and you are entitled to it.

I would suggest if you allude to the notion that you speak on behalf of others then all involved including me assuming I agree with your sentiment are all to blame in equal measure for the state of the thread.

Bigga makes points true to his views and value system and if you disagree with his view on any subject matter in this thread or any other you are entitled to say so and why or if you agree again you are entitled to say so and why.

I wouldn't say its being derailed I would prefer to say he makes points that you either disagree with or struggle to get your head around.

its your choice to respond or otherwise and just like you he is free to post what he chooses to within the confines of the rules of the forum and the freedom of speech.

it IMO tends to derail when you confuse the point with your opinion of the person making the point.

it's like the old saying an agreeable person is someone who agrees with the point I am making or attempting to make.

btw the ignore button works even if you engage in cyclical arguments and endless point scoring.

Can I just point out that I haven't directly engaged with Bigga for a number of months, and don't get into petty arguments with him.

By the way, the ignore button it does not stop my timeline from being cluttered with other people's engagements with posters I have put on ignore.

Thank you.

And whilst we may not agree on everything we speak on I, at least, do not reduce you down to the tiny bits and pieces the vultures can feast off, missing the much larger and more salient points conveniently ignored.

I speak on Black political issues and how the political structure of neolib/ neocon parties affect mine and poor people's demographic; hay bales drifting across an empty land.

'Make your own thread and maybe you'll get traction' like politics is allowed for one point of view. They offer nothing and don't agree on a system that's designed, as it stands, for 'The Club' to gain through the insistence of 'incrementalism' that allows the wealth gap to get wider and wider.

I pointed out Biden's agreement of more drilling going against his environmental pledge and more bombing and 'regime change' operations with a US supported leader in Haiti, destabilising Venezuela and an attempt in Cuba! NOTHING tangible in response!

Plain as day in front of their eyes and they explain away the issue as an illusion and scream 'Hit the ignore button!'!

It's amazingly hilarious!

I freely admit that I troll him indirectly and I've tried to stop but he keeps upping the stakes.

By that I mean as of last contact ALL of us are now racists (I had no idea he was Black for the longest time, but anyway) who could never see the world through his eyes which therefore (somehow) meant his truth was not our truth and therefore (I guess) he was right and everyone else was wrong . . . or something. I mean, how can you NOT troll that? Kudos to you for having more self-discipline than I, or most of us.

Anyway, for the 28th time I feel he can't possibly get worse so I will commit to stop unless he does indeed get worse, like the last 27 times.

I'm glad you admit to trolling you disingenuous Clown. I'm glad you read my posts and I get under your skin.

Throughout ALL your bullshit with the above post, you emit a ' *shrugs shoulders* oh well he's a Black guy' attitude and your VERY accurate lack of self awareness is underlined by your very attempt to absolve yourself of your stupidity by deflection.

That's cool. Good for you.

The ironic thing is, you don't think cursing out my standing up for people whose issues get roundly ignored by people like you isn't 'racist', but you are ENTIRELY dismissive of people like me.

The same 5 or 6 of you circle jerking and not knowing why you're doing it even though I continuously explain I have my own PoV not represented on here. I will bet 100% that you will all go about your day tomorrow saying hi to the next "coloured" person or whenever and not even connect how dismissive you are about someone speaking on Black subjects online.

"BLM", eh?? LOL! What jokers you are!

Keep 'ignoring'.

You show yourselves up every single day.

And here comes the overturning of Roe vs Wade.

Sad little patriarchal christian cunts.

I can’t think of anything that would increase Democratic turnout in the 22 midterms more than a serious threat to Roe. It will make it a one issue, litmus test election. And it will do nothing to help Republicans because abortion will be up to the states, and only illegal in states they already control. As such, in purple states, the GOP could lose on turnout. It’s inconceivably stupid politically.

Agreed on both fronts however other people are not you and again my point stands.

I have never put anyone on ignore and never will as I as you allude to in your second point doesn't necessarily limit your timeline on the thread as you manage it and that can be frustrating I concede.

Thank you.

I regard you as informed , passionate and often raising issues of substance that I whole heartedly concur with such as the issues you allude to above and have received the usual diatribe in response or no response at all largely because of this illusion.

I have been accused a Trump lover because I call out the naivety of some of the advice that Joe's advisors attempt him to stumble over in his ever bumbling rhetoric that he cannot get right like if you have had two jabs you are immune from COVID and the media avoid calling him out in the main when I state time and again I am no fan Trump , never was and never will be and find him less relevant now in US Politics than those that hate all things team RED.

Team blue and team red and no allowance for the others is lazy at best.

We do disagree on a range of issues and I have no problem with that at all , you always keep it civil and to the point to those points of view of mine that you don't share and in truth on occasion get me to reflect on my views which are by no means perfect and never will but its noble I believe to strive to be a better human being no matter your age and how set in your ways you have become.

I fully concur that under Biden the gap between the haves and the haves not will only get wider and many of those are voiceless and forgotten when push comes to shove even come election time.

Assuming they do get this through.

It would drive a massive wedge through an already divided country. The red states would ban it and open up a shit storm. The blue states would leave it as is and while the religious nutters would try to use it, its massively unpopular in most of America so they would fail to gain any voter traction on the issue outside of the places that are not already politically deep red.

The big red states have far more to lose. Its not a slam dunk that this helps them to retain control. They only control Texas because of the level of gerrymandering and voter suppression. Florida is in the balance. Kicking this fight of would serve the Dems very well.

Why do you suppose the gap between the haves and the have nots will get wider under Biden? Is there a specific policy of his that suggests this is likely?
