Jack Grealish

He wasn't a Villa fan though... which is why his social media team deleted all his tweets about united. He was from Brum and didnt even support Villa... Yes he came through there and obviously the club means a lot to him and the fans love him, but ultimately he's a professional footballer who it appears wants to move on. I do understand their disappointment though, SWP moving to Chelsea was really hard to take, but I don't remember any of our fans turning on him at that time. We were gutted to see him go, but it was too good an opportunity for him to turn down.

Well he always says he's a Villa fan I'm sure in interviews. Like a lot of fans of clubs having a lean period he probably latched onto the rags to gain some small bit of reflective glory.

SWP was different. We had to sell him to balance the books so he got a pass.

To be fair, Leroy Sane was struck off a lot of Christmas card lists on here! Yes, I know; different circumstances. Sane wasn't a boyhood City fan. But there were plenty on here very unhappy with him when he upped and went to Bayern.
I was one of them. The difference is we got over it quickly. Although I accept the inevitable counter argument that he went to a different country and has been bang average. Like Balotelli, Sanė’s apex of his footballing career looks like being a few short seasons at City. I was upset because I thought Sanė was potentially going to be the best player in the world once Messi and Tranny hung up their boots.

None of the players you quote left us at the beginning of their career; they were all at the end of their time with us. Easy to wish all those players the very best knowing they’re at the end of their careers. Not comparable with Grealish in any way whatsoever
The only former City player that I’ve heard us give stick to is the Yorkshire clogger.

Most others are roundly cheered on their return to Etihad. None of them has been booed that I ever remember.

I have no love for Villa fans after my encounter with them at Wembley. I may have just been unlucky but every single one I came across that day was a loud, aggressive boorish knobhead.

Having said that I understand their disappointment and pain if Grealish leaves. As a self confessed Villa fan they think he should stay as he loves the club like they do. I have no doubt he does but he is also a professional footballer, he wants to win trophies. At 26 this is his last chance of a big move to do that. Villa have assembled a half decent team but even with further huge investment it could be 4-5 years before they were competing at that level, if ever. It will hurt but he has to move

SWP was hard to take but he was a talent and you wouldn’t begrudge him a move to Chelsea at the time. Gutting we spent the money on Samaras.

Pretty shocked that when Grealish signed his new contract that the buy out was put in at 100m am sure Grealish Only had 1 year left when he signed it so why so high he held the cards?!

A year from now will we be reading articles on hoe Jack Grealish went from England's most fouled player to biggest diver?

Interesting to see how it pans out. Jack is appreciated by many football fans for his ability and forward thinking play. Will they let their media-led hate of oil rich city stop their own appreciation of his talent?

The part of this that excites me the most is not so much Grealish in a city shirt, but knowing with what we demand that Grealish, Mahrez, Gundo, whoever is in that city shirt today it's because they are in top form and hungry to win.

And if we can't break you down because of eleven men behind the ball and an unsympathetic official then fine, chuck on Kane, Jesus, Foden and have a go at that for the last 30.
End of August.....end of year pffft.

That's where your insane squad depth has proven to be an ace in the hole whenever a crisis would hit another squad, Pep has had the resources to plug in another world class talent to fill the gaps. No team in the world outside of maybe PSG has that in the cannon.
Amazing how that was achieved without chasing the worldies out there like Pogba, Sancho and Sanchez, and without breaking the 70 million mark. We have built our squad depth sensibly, and maybe this will change in the current window though.

He can say it all he wants but his tweets say it all.

Fair point RE SWP, though football fans aren't exactly known for being the most rational.
