Classic Rock (Phil Collins lives, run for the hills)

Side A

Spirit of Radio - Rush
Born On The Bayou - Creedence Clearwater Revival
Paper In Fire - John Cougar Mellencamp
Copperhead Road - Steve Earle & The Dukes
Hotel California - The Eagles

Side B

Year Zero - King Swamp
The River - Bruce Springsteen
The Waiting - Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers
Sweet Child O'Mine - Guns 'N' Roses
Under The Sun - Dare
Nice list. I will give it a score of 7. I can't really fault any of the choices as they are all strong tracks. Both Guns N Roses and The Eagles are bands that I have an aversion to but there is no question around the quality of the tracks you chose. I will actually put that into a play list and see how they sound together and that might put it up to a 8.

Cheers.

I've looked at a the lists posted and I'm feeling that maybe I don't know enough about rock music as I thought because I'm struggling to recognise a lot of them. Like you said, maybe putting them together in a playlist is the way to go so I'll have a listen to yours later.

I like your "Meeting Across The River" choice. As you noted, it's a well told little story and I do like stories in songs. It's not one that I'd immediately pick for a best of Bruce, but that's the beauty of the lesser played album tracks. It's easy to pick your favourite rack by an artist for a playlist, but it's sometimes better to pick those hidden gems. Still one of the best tracks on Born to Run though.

Don't think there's a track there I dislike, but all a little on the singer /songwriter amricana side so lose a little for that. Good to see Dare make an appearance though.7/10

In my younger days, I used to work on Radio Cavell, Oldham's hospital radio. I came down into the studio one day to find a signed copy of Dare's Out of the Silence. I gave it a play and loved it. It was only later when I asked around and did a bit of research that I found out that they were a local band, hence their donation of the album to the hospital.

"Under the Sun" of one of my favourite "atmosphere" tracks - brilliantly moody with a stunning guitar solo.

Sadly guitarist Vinny is a dipper fan.

Nice list mate. I will give it a score of 6. You got points added for track 1. (was that the live version on 'On your feet, or on your knees). Anyway its a killer. And for tracks 1,2,3 on side two. Unfortunately Aerosmith, Foreigner and Boston are included high on my list of musical prejudices. If it hadn't been for that I would have scored your list higher still ;-)

I have such an aversion to said bands later output, Aerosmith especially post clean up, bland out. But their early work was integral to US classic Rock for me.

I've an old ipod I use in my car, I put a long list of tracks on, this is the first 10

Born to be wild - Steppenwolf
I'm a man - Spencer Davis
21st century schizoid man - King Crimson
The Stealer - Free
Nantucket Sleighride - Mountain
I love everybody - Jonny Winter
Roxette - Dr Feelgood
Purple Haze - Hendix
Burlesque - Family
All or nothing - Small Faces

Keeps an old man happy at least

Have to say @OB1 I’m loving how your thread has been hijacked by @Saddleworth2
You have to admit it’s a great idea, although a bit time consuming.
I’m going to hold off on scoring anyone else’s list until I actually put them on a Spotify playlist to properly appreciate.
I like the old two sided album approach. Albums would be carefully ordered to best produce a flow from song to song.
I’m going to attempt that myself.
I’ll put something together today and then get to listening to everyone else’s.

All subject to anything imminent happening in the transfer thread of course.

Think we need a deadline to stop it taking over too much. Really struggling though I have my theme but limiting to 10 is proving tricky, and keep thinking of other bands I'd like to crowbar in.

He's been trying to hijack it from the off.
