Leicester (N) - Community Shield | Post-Match Thread

Shame about the result, but with the majority of our first team still on holiday we did ok against almost a full strength Leicester.

Can't read anything in to that match, it was just more minutes in the tank for the lads who are back in training.

Thought bernardo was lively tbh, we might be making a mistake selling him and keeping Mahrez....

One is 26 and gives it his all every game, whilst the other is 30 he's got no-existent pace, just strolling around the pitch with such negative energy...
Just stop saying this. We don’t want to sell anyone but if a player wants to leave he can go.

Not guaranteed he even goes in the end

Meh.

A few quick comments only from me...

1. Rodri dropped Ake in the shit with a poor pass that led to the penalty. Rodri is desperately poor and may well cost us very dearly if he's playing regularly this season.

2. Mahrez blowing out of his arse after a long rest and trying to claim Jesus's offside crown. Bloody hopeless.

3. Edozie and Cole looked good but will probably only get a few starts in cup games. They deserve more PL minutes than they're likely to get.

4. I hope the fans who went got some enjoyment out of the day. It was average at best on TV.

Meh.

Totally controlled it from 30 minutes on. They created nothing from that point onwards. Poor finishing by Mahrez and Gundog and the mistake by Ake cost us. Thought we played all the football in that game.
Several players look well short of fitness not surprisingly.
Pep's job is to keep us in touch with the pacesetters till October/November when hopefully everyone is back and up to speed.

Are people losing their shit already. It will keep us grounded. If we can get a clinical forward then we will continue to lift trophies.

Understandably considering the Euros and the players missing we look very undercooked. Not that bothered about the result but we need our main players back asap. As for today I thought both Palmer and Odezie looked good in brief spurts. Torres was non existent and Ake was poor for the goal and if we had to rely on him for a long period of the season I would be concerned

Good 2nd half performance against what was a full strength decent side. City controlled the 2nd half but I couldn't see us scoring. Thought Palmer did well

Is what it is.

Clearly didn't look fit, sloppy passing, no coordination.

Not a real trophy anyways, we move on, prepare for Tottenham.

Leicester played their starting eleven for next week and are a lot closer to match fitness , we have seven or eight still in their flip flops which is a worry for the Spuds game , they would love to shove it up us next week like every other team. Everybody wants to beat the Champions (with their new £100m player) but we've been there before , and we've got the T-shirts , Back to Back Champions.

Always disappointing to lose but no big deal. Good run out for some kids that will barely feature during the season and will add some sharpness to the established players. Difficult to read too much into it for anyone.

Much better second half than first. One defensive error lost the game but some good performances amid the general lack of sharpness. Palmer is a clever player and could really blossom. Steffen is a good keeper.
