Erling Haaland

Paving the way for this kid to go to United next season is a mistake that will haunt us for awhile. In fact, even though Chelsea made a smarter signing with Lukaku than we will/would with Kane, they too are contributing with that.
Do you genuinely believe this?

You think Chelsea and City are "paving the way". Does it not speak volumes that two of the best clubs in the world have swerved this lad?
Madrid or Barca would probably be at the table as well but they haven't got a pot to piss in so probably says more about them as a footballing operation.

For me its clear he has already said what he wants to do and it doesnt involve City or Chelsea so we have both moved on.

Blows my mind that people think City and seemingly Chelsea are amateurs in this business and can't see what everyone here seems to think about Haaland.

Paul Moulden had the pace of Eric Garcia and had only played youth and reserve football before playing for City's first team. Who knows what level Haaland will peak at but he has excelled in the Bundesliga and scored loads of goals in the UCL.
You say that with the benefit of hindsight... When PM broke into the first team, we thought he'd be a world beater!

It was only a tongue in cheek comment!

As I say though... no matter what Haaland has achieved up to now, whoever signs him next will be taking a risk. It's the same with any new signings.

There's no certainty in football.

Who knows what will happen...? We may yet see Danny Ings or Gabriel Jesus win the golden boot this season.

PSG for me. Mbappe is off no matter what and they surely can't be left with a 35 year old Messi and a 31 year old Neymar as their options.

Doubt he'd go to PSG at his age. Messi early retirement is one thing, this would be something else

I've found our transfer window a little baffling to be honest.
For me this (Haaland) was the number 1 priority, not a 100m gamble on a player who 2 years ago was playing in the championship.
Sadly I can see the Rags getting a free run on him now next season
Very puzzling.

This. If the figures for Kane are to be believed why aren’t City testing out Dortmund’s resolve for Haaland at 10-15mm more? Not to say they aren’t privately but seems like they will go to end of window and this is still up in air.

Haaland only goes Utd if they’re competing. They could miss out on CL if dippers are back on it, Chelsea kick on and Leicester sustain improvement

I thought haaland to city was an absolute shoe in to be honest.
You would he getting a beast of a player for at least a decade.
Maybe I'm missing something but it looks like we're not interested at least for now and spending 100m on Kane instead who maybe we will get 4 to 5 years at best if his dodgy ankles hold up.
For me this was a golden chance to assert our authority and boss the league for a few years to come with a player of Haalands nature.

The club have decided to go for Kane & Jack. The recent trophy haul might suggest pep and co get it right more often than not.

Håland was playing in Austria two years ago, is that really much better than the Championship?

No chance they will miss out. Liverpool will be back and a stronger chelsea indeed. Only challenge is a Leicester really as Spurs and arsenal are out of the equation. Same top 4 for me

I have an idea .....does this sound crazy ?

If Kane is a no no, we offer Dortmund 100m for Haaland now and loan him back to them for a year ..... we deffo get the player and play Delap/Jesus/Torres up front for a season ..... Dortmund said that they wont sell him this year as they feel he would get them into Champs League and that would make up for the loss of money in his buy out.

We deffo get Haaland next Summer, and we can void the deal if he gets injured in the 12 months of the loan ..... Dortmund get more money, the player for 1 season and we get him in 2022.

As Errol Brown would say ....everyones a winner.
Batshit crazy.
You don't spunk 100 big ones and then lend them out.
What if he were to suffer a serious injury?
