Political relations between UK-EU

It is at the moment, but what is the end-game? I cannot see any way that we prosper and only see how certain government officials do in the long run (thinking Cameron with his 10 million quid).
It’s always going to be short term pain long term either no gain or gain.
The pro-eu are a strange breed. There’s nothing to be particularly in awe of when it comes to the eu. Quite the opposite. The pro-eu fanatics like that pillock “femi” like to make out that everything they do is great and everything Britain does is crap.
I voted remain because I was happy for the status quo to continue and financial stability in the immediate term suited my circumstances.
The cost of food and other consumables has already risen, there’s issues at borders, still no agreement on some points. This is all to be expected and doesn’t mean it hasn’t worked. Be like saying grealish is a poor signing after one bad game

Story in the FT

‘Staff at UK medical regulator ⁦MHRA⁩ express alarm at plan to slash 300 of 1,200 jobs after #brexit — despite #covid19 triumphs and U.K. gov wanting life sciences at heart of economic recovery.

That’s the same MHRA regulator that stopped the #Covid19 ventilator programme descending into farce and helped fast-track coronavirus vaccines approvals -- for which it was lauded as "phenomenal" in UK govt's life sciences plan.

From the inside it just looks like the MHRA is in danger of being hollowed, becoming a rubber-stamper, not a world-leader. Per insider: “The fear is companies will go to Europe or the US [for reg approvals] and then come back to us for a cheap, rubber-stamping exercise.”

There is a bitter irony here...the MHRA is facing a £15m shortfall because it is losing £ms of year in fees that it no longer collects as a result of #Brexit and the UK's departure from the European Medicines Agency (that went to Amsterdam).

As a result of losing the EU funding stream that came with fees from registering products for use in the EU, the MHRA is being sucked back into the budget of the Dept of Health which is adding financial pressure.’

You’re not really selling the upsides here :)

As a former truck driver I can earn an extra few quid an hour and walk into a job tomorrow plus remainer angst as a bonus

Winner winner chicken........

Well, chop, chop and get driving. Pallets aren't delivering themselves.

A conundrum that will affect people for many years to come. I get that but anything like this is always personal, especially from those that are in power now.

It looks like we are willing to sacrifice agriculture and horticulture to certain groups so that ‘certain groups’ can make a profit. It also looks like the red bus campaign of 350 mil a min/day/week/month was just a fantasy of Johnson but could it be linked with a pre-sell off of our NHS which is worth billions to outside agencies?

Not forgetting the recent announcement in Defence where we will ‘collaborate’ with the highest private bidder. Where will that 16 billion be funnelled?

The status quo and stability I've always respected a risk taker. You're mad you are.

Have a cup of tea and chill, listen to radio 4 or organise your sock drawer.

I'm just too bloody lazy but I'm glad others can earn a tad more. Get up at 5 sleep in a lay-by. Don't see your family much while getting obese. Good luck to them earning a tad more.

If they worked in the NHS there would be a petition to sign.

No issue with people earning a few bob, the issue is manpower or lack of it.

Lack of manpower means increased wages supply and demand I believe.

In part, but the issue is really a lack of bodies. There was a shortage before covid and Brexit. These two events have just made the situation worse.

It's an issue in the EU as well, just not as marked given the UK has lost easy access to a pool of EU drivers.

Prior to Brexit we were plugged into the EU wide supply chains. The introduction of trade barriers obviously impacts our ability to be part of those supply chains.

I know it's always a fight, business love a surplus. You don't like your lot sunshine ? Fine there is a big queue ready to take your place.

Currently it's a workers market so tough shit for companies. Personally I would prefer mutual respect but people who like to make money will shit on workers.

People see brexit armageddon I see karma

Bloke who is comfortable enough To not care what supermarket charge for food pretends to be a lorry driver to score a point on an Internet forum.

How long before supermarket prices price out families on basic Universal Credit?

Have you created a foodbank company that you're about to float?

Sure, you can be smug that Brexit has happened. Will you ever think about the families that won’t be able to afford to feed themselves?

Let’s start at the beginning, pretends?

No need. People will begin to realise as the “Pingdemic” comes to an end.

Imagine if the lorry driver was on universal credit, now maybe he should be happy to earn little and get universal credit so Tesco the caring company wouldn’t have to pay him much. I’m sure they would then pass on their savings to people on universal credit to feed their family.

Like the lorry driver maybe, you guys are hilarious with your rather odd moral compass. Do you want people to earn a half decent wage to feed their kids or do you want them to struggle in the hope others can feed their kids.

Pmsl.

The lorry driver earns more. The supermarket charges more. 99% of people pay more for their food As a result.

Meanwhile every other job doesn’t offer a pay rise. They get closer to the breadline.

It‘s okay though, said lorry driver and their family are now on holiday because of their pay rise. No one is trained to cover their holiday.

Pay rises have to be across the board, otherwise the poorest section of society become even poorer.

We've had 11 years of cuts resulting in minimal policing.

What are people not able to afford to feed their families going to do?

People need to decide what they want you can’t on one hand say pay nurses etc what they deserve then say fuck others it puts prices up. Do you believe people should get a decent wage or do you believe in market forces. Any pay rise costs somebody something. I don’t agree with a fuck you it’s what we can get away with. This applies across the board private public whatever.

People on here pick and choose based on politics and morally die on their arse from doing so. You can’t say drivers, supermarket staff or whoever should be poorer to prevent others being poorer, it’s a stupid way of looking at things. You are unintentionally saying some should struggle so others don’t.

There should always be a social benefit all changes where possible.

Things are not going to get better for the unskilled people given technological advances.

How do you perceive unskilled families making ends meet once robots have taken all their jobs?

That’s a classic deflection, are you happy that drivers and in fairness other jobs are now getting higher pay due to shortages in labour? The answer is either yes or no. You either want an employers market or an employees market. It doesn’t make much of a difference to me but as a working class bloke who sees people around me suffering for well over a decade I want a employees market.

This is what I voted for along with population reduction and democracy. You have to decide what you want but accept there will be negatives and a price to pay. There is no nirvana in this world.

Fast forward 10 years and there are no lorry drivers to pay more.

What we’re witnessing is capitalism reaching its natural end.

There are no more margins to break.

Do we pay people more and are happy to pay for that, or do we want the lowest price possible an exploit workers as much as possible?

As and when robots do most of the mundane jobs, what do the unskilled factory workers do?

Social democracy is the only option I can think that works.

People voted to leave the EU to invoke change as they were struggling with what was being delivered.

Theyre about to find out that the next decades are going to be very hard for most of them.
