US Politics Thread

Seen the film, but utterly dumbfounded that someone thinks that a reference to a kid f*cking an apple pie somehow relates to Biden's handling of the current situation in America.
I’d suggest the maturity level of the character in the film, the individual who posted it and those who find a parallel are “all the same”.

Biden said pretty much the same thing. Plus "if you are vaccinated, you don't need to wear a mask"
“Pretty much the same thing”. He did, eh? Where? When?

And the CDC said that about masks, and he repeated it. The CDC was wrong.

But I suppose if Biden had said in May, “Yo, bitches, the CDC is wrong! Keep your masks on, everyone!”, we’d all be here talking about how right he was, what a superior scientific genius he is.

Speaking of way down the pecking order, where do you think an Australian’s perspective on American politics fits? I mean, I personally don’t agree with the vast majority of Americans who view Australia as the “small club” of Western nations and “America’s bitch since the Stone Age”, but if you’re sensitive about that, I sympathize. :)
Not at all Fog , we will rely heavily on the US both diplomatically and militarily if the situation in the Pacific intensifies which some in the Biden Administration have indicated it may hence the switch from the middle east in recent times.

Forgetting the leaders for the time being we have always had good relationships behind the scene with the US where it it matters despite differences in views of tariffs for example over the journey which is what you would expect when you have conflicting economic interests.

its important for us and the US that Australia becomes less reliant on China and reinvests massively in its infrastructure , sovereignty , manufacturing and education which we have let slip for many years.

Although you allude to the mental capacity of those that don't wave the blue flag you do have a point in that the critical thinking and education standards have slipped drastically particularly over the past 30 years some of it lifestyle driven but most of it due to an unhealthy shift in the curriculum.

its not a pecking order as you allude to its matter of doing what is necessary to get the best of what democracy does offer.

I am bemused by those who chastise the industrial revolution and the best of western civilisation as oppressive.

the west has never had it better.

Traditionally the most successful governments in Oz are those at the centre but we have three levels of Government for a population the size of Florida and both centre right and centre left leaders in the past have wanted to alter the Federation and abolish State Governments which I am in favour of myself.

No need to TMT some are on a different wavelength and we should all be fine with that.

As for relating I suggest you take a good look at the film and understand that Jason thought all would be right but miscalculated the time it would take for him to orgasm before his old man opened the door.

its a metaphor of what occurred in Afghanistan , the intelligence was somewhat skewed.

You can't blame Joe for that how would he know but he should have said my relevant staff mislead me just like Jason's penis led him astray.

I’m sure it would be happening. Same shit, different administration.

The funny thing about the Hammer PoV is that, like the rest of the cabal, they ignore the growing issues of homelessness, rent issues, ending QI for the police*, wage issues, healthcare and the growing call for reparations amongst the Black community etc, in the "greatest"/"wealthiest" country on earth.

The Dems have been complicit in allowing the rich to get richer (how many bankers went to jail during the 2008 crash? How many people lost their homes because of it during the same period?) and the MIC to freely conduct war on foreign soil after training the very "terrorists" that turned against them for asset stripping and continual occupation on their land.

The same money that was spent in that time could've and would've ended homelessness twice over AND supported healthcare very easily.

But, yeah, let the rabid mob focus on Trump cos it's all they have as an argument.

Well put it demonstrates further how little difference in policy on home soil the reds and blues have been and the mob will be blaming Trump for everything that goes sour from here on in keeping him in the public eye and his base alive when in truth he should be put to bed and into the annals of history.

its the mob that keep the orange man alive , not too bright the mob in truth while they continue to pander to the elites.

If you were in possession of any knowledge at all about the global financial crisis of 2007/8 you would know that it occurred during a second consecutive Republican administration and its main cause was insufficient and inadequate regulation which even the dumbest would know is the responsibility of the party in office. For the majority of this period and in the critical years in the run up to the crisis Congress had a Republican majority changing to a Dem majority only months before the crisis struck. No one in their right mind would apportion blame to the Democrats.
Presumably that’s why you are.

You blame anti-Trumpers for keeping him in the public eye, yet didn’t you argue earlier that he should have his Twitter and Facebook bans lifted?

Bigga et. all - I guess to include mancity1 - express views that are ineffable: extreme to the extent that the opinions expressed are simply unknowable.

A salient point of the Bigga world view is that every politician who is not of far progressive left in ideology - is simply indistinguishable from any other opposition politician. A middle of the road centrist Democrat is no different than Trump who - by extension is no different than Hitler or Pol Pot.

Are you being deliberately thick???

Go back to my post and look for the bit where I blamed the Dems.

I said they were complicit in the RICH GETTING RICHER and where were the bankers going to jail. You keep going with yer straw man efforts!

Obama had the power to jail those at fault for the subprime mortgage loans sold to poor families.

Go on then, blame the GOP for something that Obama had the power to do something about.

Even your favourite, Kamala Harris, let Steve fucking Mnuchin off with his part in the scam because he donated to her campaign.

Fuck off with your fucking ill knowledge and continued deflection that these politicians all piss in the same pot.

You asked how many bankers went to jail during the 2008 crash. Funny watching you move the goalposts.

You underline your stupidity yet again.

Obama was elected in 2008 and installed Jan 2009.

Under his remit he oversaw the result of what happened earlier.

He found time to bail out the banks, using taxpayer money, but send no one of note to jail.

Get your thumb out of your arse, you contrary idiot.

This is kind of what I do for a living so let me just stress that there is plenty of blame to be apportioned to both parties as well as non-political entities including the Fed and homeowners themselves who ignored risks as well as unscrupulous lenders who took advantage of consumers. We could blame the repeal of Glass-Steagall, the CRA, Greenspan, decades of pro-homeownership policies/goals by presidents of both parties, and many, many other factors. Also we can thank an ex-Goldman Sachs Republican Secretary of the Treasury and Ben Bernanke for saving the nation and probably the world from a global depression (though in hindsight also not fully grasping the risks headed in) and both parties for coming to their senses and passing TARP at the instant the car was about to pull a Thelma and Louise.

Politicizing the housing/financial crisis is, to me, like politicizing the pandemic. Now how we prevent such a catastrophe from happening again is an in-part political discussion, but causation of the last one is exceedingly complex.

When did a president last send anyone to jail?
