It's a waiting game.
Flawed strategy, hoping in 12 months time, Trump will be a lame duck and the adults will take over again.

Far too late by then, we already make decisions slow enough as it is. I reckon Europe finally realised what was to come when trump and vance ambushed Zelensky at the white house and tried to humiliate him.

Japan,Taiwan and South Korea need to wake up too as we're all getting hung out to dry together.

A pardon only absolves him of Federal crimes. If (and I suspect he has) committed international crimes, then it becomes a different matter altogether.

The Yanks never signed up to the ICC.

There's no one to prosecute him.

All of the criminal family running the US are free of any fear of consequence, and they gleefully know it

I've lived and worked in the U.S. since the Mets last won the World Series. Had a good career, paid taxes, traveled all over. and will probably die here. But I never became a citizen, being too irredeemably English to swear loyalty to another country. But at 77 I'm going to do it. When the ceremony's done and they hand me my piece of paper I want to ask "So I'm a U.S. citizen now? And i can speak my mind?" And when they tell me yes I'll say "well then, Donald Trump is an evil **** and I bet a lot of you in this hall agree."

I have just watched the new film Nuremberg and I tell you the end of that film scares the shit out of me because it’s happening again and this time in the most powerful nation on earth and there won’t be a Nuremberg trial for this lot unfortunately.

US has published its new National Security strategy.

As you'd expect, it's completely bonkers and borderline fascist, requiring in the US "growing numbers of strong, traditional families that raise healthy children."

But of note it explicitly makes it clear than European democracies are the enemy of the US and they plan to undermine us by supporting the far right.

Support for the AfD etc al:

"America encourages its political allies in Europe to promote this revival of spirit, and the growing influence of patriotic European parties indeed gives cause for great optimism."

The US will be..

"Cultivating resistance to Europe’s current trajectory within European nations"

They're not pretending any more: they are our enemy.

Is this what Brexit was all about?
Yanks not wanting the UK to be part of a European superstate?
Makes you wonder.

Probably a bit more to it, with equal measure from both the east and west of us. Isolated the UK as a major financial hub while diminishing the EU. Build on further far right politics across the region, destabilising the centralised approach and giving an easier rise to authoritarian rule.

History will tell the story, but let’s see how far the people, us people, allow this to happen.
