Making that 8 transfer windows without seriously attempting to sign a LB. I have seen so much abuse for Mendy, partly correct because he has been unable to keep fit, but it can happen given he had two ligament tears. But what have the board been smoking all this while?

We tried that with Angeliño. They need to be able to defend as well.

We signed Angelino who is a decent wing back but never played him as a wing back but only as an orthodox left back.

We have with one exception had little success in developing youth into first team regulars something that was the hallmark of the success of those in red for many a year.

Its long overdue that we take a punt on youth.

We've needed two specialist LB's for years now. I'm tired of all this square peg in round holes bollocks to be honest....

The issues we have at left back remain the same with or without Mendy.

I don’t think it really makes a difference, he wasn’t helping much when he was playing there.

It's still nowhere near a problem. Zinchenko is our undisputed left back, cancelo plays there as much as he does right back and ake and laporte will see game time there.

Bringing in somebody else limits playtime for 7 other players as all our defenders are impacted. Cancelo, laporte zinchenko and ake all directly get less game time, walker gets less because cancelo plays more at right back and Dias and stones get less because laporte and ake need more games at cb. we've seen first hand it's already hard for Pep to keep everybody happy. Signing a left back means selling at least 2/3 unhappy players and having to replace them too. It's not a problem at all.
