What if we just went with Delap, Jesus, and Torres?

Let’s be excited for what we have rather than longing for what we don’t - not as confident this season due to rivals strengthening but fuck it you can’t win them all.

Foden, Grealish, KDB, Torres, Jesus on the wing, Kayky, Delap - loads to be excited about.
This! Love the positive vibes, man.

We have bags of talent. I'd love to add Edozie as a wild card, that kid will progress well, and could be a big surprise.

Look at it this way - Spurs are now going to end up paying an extra 400,000 a month for a player they already had. Rags are splashing 2m quid a month on Ronaldo in an already loaded team.

We've still got a war chest and there's Haaland who we could bid for in January and allow to stay at Dortmund till the end of the season (to sweeten the deal!).

i agree with a lot of what you’re saying but that’s a lot of ifs & mays…

Yes, many ifs and mays, mate, but notice that the same holds for the pessimistic takes about the season: if Torres and Jesus fail as attackers, if Sterling continues to struggle for form, if Kevin is injured, if Grealish turns out to be a luxury signing, etc., etc, we may finish 4th, we may be beaten by rags, dippers and chavs... A lot of ifs and mays...Truth is, we don't know. Some are pessimistic, others like me are hopeful that we will do well. Time will tell.

I think Delap will surprise us and start to show his traits like Foden did 2 years ago. Then next year he will be ready to lead the attack

Sadly I think this year we will struggle to retain the title without an attacker so we just have to get top 3 and fight for the cups. Don't think we can win the CL this year also or even reach the final

Maybe next year once we have sorted ourselves out

We kinda need him earlier than we needed foden. I reckon foden could have done a job earlier but we had plenty of men in his position. With delap less of a competition

Also foden was about 8 stone dripping wet when he got to the first team.

Delap is already the finished article physically.

There's this odd premise at the heart of your comment which is that we are starting from zero again. "Replicated twice" is a weird way of saying keep playing the system we have for the last 10 months with incredible results.

28 games with it so far and 2.57 goals per game. Its not slowing down.

Pep didn't invent anything last season, he reverted to a system he's used for over a decade when it suits the squad he has. Aguero and Jesus were injured so it suited the squad so he used it. There is nothing stop gap about it.

"Underlying goalscoring issues" what are those exactly? Is it being top scorers 4 seasons in a row? Is it having goals from almost every postion on the pitch?

Or is it just trying to sound smart when you mean "occasionally we don't score" which is true for every team in history no matter how many strikers they have?

We scored in 36/38 games last season. 34 in 19/20, 36 in 18/19 and 36 in 17/18.

So I'm really struggling to work out what "underlying goalscoring problems" actually means as it doesn't seem to have anything to do with scoring goals.
Top top post...

Thank you.

Now. I hope we do. Get off the merry go round and focus. United are clearly confident with their youth policy. ..........

Delap is much more of a unit than Foden was at that age, if he's technically up to the job I think he'd get more fast tracked.

Remains to be seen. I doubt he'll get any major playing time except maybe sometimes in the league cup.

I think were more likely to see Sterling/Jesus Torres upfront, play a false 9 than Delap get any meaningful game time.
