These are her results from qualifying to today. It’s one thing to have never dropped a set, but look at the utter domination. Not even one tie break. Madness. And her worst 1st set was a 6-3. Fast starter!!

6-1 6-2
6-3 7-5
6-1 6-4
6-2 6-3
6-2 6-4
6-0 6-1
6-2 6-1
6-3 6-4
6-1 6-4
I knew she hadn’t dropped a set in this run but she's not even been taken to a tie break. Longest set being 7-5 - she's a very impressive young lady in the way she plays and the way she conducted herself at the press interviews

She's only lost 1 service game in all of that as well.

Just going along with what others have wrote unbelievable achievement to get to the final,I’m amazed at the power she generates when serving and returning the ball ..also would anyone know what price she was to win the us open from the start must have been a huge price…

She was ranked 350th in the world before Wimbledon, 150th before this tournament. I've never known a rise like it.

Obviously the 18 month break for her studies and the pandemic will have masked some of that improvement but the rise is phenomenal.

In fairness her opponent has a similar story although she's had more experience on the WTA as she didn't have any break.

Emma's game is impressive though, she's got a pinpoint serve, amazing backhand (especially down the line) and her return of serve might already be the best on the tour.

I'm sure 20 years from now, that will be one of those ultimate pub quiz questions who did she beat in the first Qualifying round!(Bibiane Schoofs). I'm showing my age but I recall Boris Becker going on a similar run at Wimbledon when he first started, although I don't think he went through qualifying first.... Anyway he didn't end up having a bad career!
I remember Boris Becker winning at 17.
My childhood memories are full of hot summers watching Wimbledon as a kid with my mum.

He certainly did lead the life didn't he....love the cupboard shag story too.

Ridge, Rump, Rise, Range...

Trying to decide which synonym will be most apt next summer as Henman Hill > Murray Mound> Raducanu?

I'm just slightly worried about her nerves after the panic/anxiety attack at Wimbledon.

She's not shown any sign of it yet, but thought she was a bit defensive when the interviewer said there must be pressure on her now.

Whoever wins tomorrow, you get the sense that these 2 will be playing a lot of finals against each other over the years.

At the moment the womens side of the draw is much more interesting post-Serena. Djokovic is going to hoover up almost all of the slams for the next 3 or 4 years and even if the new generation do step up, a lot of them are pretty unlikeable anyway (Tsitsipas, Zverev especially)

I think she handled the interview quite well to be honest, basically said 'I'm a qualifier are they any expectations?', she's not really wrong.

I actually think she's been very strong mentally in this tournament, there's been occasions in these matches where she could have easily lost the 1st set but fought back to take it. Last night she went 5-0 up in the first set but the way the games looked to be going she could have easily gone 4-0 down but she fought off break points and took her breaks.

Only on a couple of occasions towards the end of the match did she tighten up but it's completely understandable when trying to close the match.

Hopefully these 2 do duke it out at the top for years to come, it would be great for women's tennis.

win or lose in the final surely she has to be a very strong contender for SPOTY even in an Olympic year

If she wins, surely it's nailed on.

If not, it's got to be Jason Kenny?
Interestingly, she is currently 12/1 to win SPOTY (in from 500/1 before the US open began) that's got to be worth a tenner, her odds will plummet if she wins the final.

Current bookies favourite is Tom Daley @ 2/1. Jason Kenny is 5/1 and Adam Peaty 6/1

But Emma trounced her 2 years ago in straight sets. Emma has to be favourite
I don't think so.

She can beat her, absolutely no doubt.

Two years is a long time in any sport and the other girl has also had no right to beat the top seeds she has done in this tournament. Sabalenka was a real test.

She has more match play experience and that's why Fernandes is considered my slight favourite.

Radacanu is something special, she can be a multiple slam winner, and she has all the tools if it all falls into place on Saturday night.

Boris had already won Queens that year when he won Wimbledon at 17.

He came back and won it the next year too.

Legend.

Seeks inspiration from a guy that hasn't won Wimbledon vs guy that has. Flawed logic.

She gets help from both, as it should be.

She let Nigel Sears go after Wimbledon (Murray's father in law) and went with Andy Richardson.

McEnroe was absolutely right at the time (he was also speaking from experience having been 17 when he met Connors in the semi in 77 at Wimbledon) the occasion had got to her and the anxiety had taken it out of her legs.

People also need to remember it is only in the last three months she has started to train as a professional athlete, due to Covid and her A Level studies.

Her career record so far is 9-3 - which just shows you what a phenomenal achievement it has been by Emma to go all the way to the Final.

She will get bigger and stronger over the next year and that's when we will get to see how far she can really go.

She's got it between the ears, she does all the fundamentals well.

Henman was an excellent grass court player, unlucky to play in an era when Sampras, Agassi and others were ruling the roost.

For Murray to win Slams in an era of Fed, Nadal and Djoko, is nothing short of phenomenal and deserves to be lauded as one of this country's greatest.

Emma will hopefully be joining him.

It's going to be a great match that's for sure. Very finely balanced

Yep, might be a long one. Fernandes will have the crowd with her at the beginning but fans at the US Open are fickle, they root for the player who digs the deepest and can change in an instant.

Radacanu in this tournament reminds me a lot of Sharapova when she *won at Wimbledon for the first time.

All the stars align and she explodes from nowhere to superstardom.
