Etihad Atmosphere - 2021/22

it takes my phone a few seconds too. Just when I think there is something up it goes green. I think the bottleneck though are the personal checks. There are two queues. One to get past the security queues and a second mine one to get through the turnstile. The security q was much bigger than the turnstile queue. Stagecoach seem to have reduced the number of football specials to the game from town. I just got the usual stopping service and it was fine last night because traffic was lighter than usual.
You're right about the 2 queues but the post-security queue is generally about 8-10 people per turnstile whereas last night the turnstile queue started as you got through security.

And another thing they've started doing is putting security tags on bags pre-security checks, without actually checking the bags. So it's a complete myth these checks are anything to do with physical security. I bought some food when I arrived in City Square and had it in my hand when I was being scanned by the wand. The guy said "You won't be allowed in with that" (which wasn't a problem as I'd bloody finished it while queuing for the turnstile) but he didn't even look in the bag that that guy who sits in front of me had.

So we can see what their priorities really are.

What are the scanner things actually scanning for? Has anyone ever been stopped by the scanner people?
It’s a metal scanner, said to the guy last night does it ever beep? Yeah all the time he then put it towards the barrier and it went off Still doesn’t explain what they are looking for though

Atmosphere 2nd half was alot better than the first.

Considering it was a big game for wycombe they were really quiet, and I laughed at the shushing when they were quiet FOR most of the game or the pep was right your fans are shite chants.

First time I've seen the waiving of our fans with the lights switched on, christ we are becoming more and more like some of those clubs we detest.

People have said it before and get shot down, but the lads in 1894 should be allowed drums etc in to make some more noise.

It's happened at European games a few times. I don't see why it winds everyone up so much, to be honest. But, as has been well established, the usual seasoncard holders don't come to as many midweek games, so they're going to be replaced by a younger crowd who establish their own traditions.

It beeps my keys every time, but I barely get asked to show them which does suggest if I wanted to smuggle a weapon in it would be easy enough to do so.
Thanks guys, I thought that was it and the fact that they beep and no one does anything is a little 'concerning'. I just wondered if there was something special they were primed for but obviously not. Like you I have my keys in my pocket, however it has never beeped once!
Also the little cross body bag I carry my epipen in has always been allowed through no searches or anything but the previous two games they've made me go to the bag queue which has meant me queuing twice! Last night they didn't! (I know I should have gone to the bag queue but I thought I would just test it out again!) Curiouser and curioser as Alice would say!! :-)

Ahh, i recall a few doing it last week, but other than that been a while

Those scanners can detect over a long period of time if you have ever sung or started a song by the beeping noise. if detected then they won’t let you in.

One weird thing inside the stadium last night was in 109, where I am. Normally we're all stood up but the vast majority stayed in their seats, with only the half dozen or so seats at the end of the back 4 or 5 rows - basically the regulars - stood up. Clearly a lot of non-regulars in 109 last night.

I was moved from CB Level 3 to 123 last night. Certainly a mixed crowd of people just wanting to sit down all game or those who stand up

thats pretty common for block 109. Before covid a lot of that block was sat down, with most of the block standing this season a welcome surprise

I gues you hope they're reading the context as well as the beeps! Shifty looking dude with something that beeps with something down his leg might get frisked etc. I'm just glad they don't have the dogs like they had at the Warehouse Project on Saturday and had also been introduced at Spurs away. Honestly, I'd been in airports with less checks than at Spurs.

got thrown out on 80 mins in family stand tier 2 for singing, yeah a few songs had swear words in but it’s a FOOTBALL match… never going again!!!!

You didn't.

Nobody in City's history has been thrown out for singing.

As with all these things there will be another side to the story.
