The Conservative Party

Leavers will put up with anything as long as the forriners are gone.

But they won’t be will they - because there’s 5,000 emergency visas to fill?!

However, as with everything boris does, he let’s it get so bad that even an unpalatable solution (to the Bexiteers), will be acceptable.

They haven’t twigged yet that this ‘crisis’ has allowed a u-turn on allowing migrants in ‘to take our jobs and be a burden on our NHS’ - which is why many (not all) voted to leave.

Will those 5,000 visas be filled by HGV drivers or will Mr Martin slime in and take advantage if they aren’t?

Or is this how they lay the groundwork to allow more ‘temporary’ emergency visas if things get worse?

5000 HGV drivers! Where will they come from? There is a well known shortage of said in the EU so if you are an HGV driver in the EU you are more than likely to have a job and are going to be very busy in the run up to Christmas. Very unlikely to come from there; besides very few have passports as they travel mostly on ID cards.

Perhaps they will come from South America, India and Africa where wages are low and we can pay them 10 times as much as they get at home but way less than we have to pay our drivers! Shirley not!

Spot on!

Those migrants who were thinking of crossing the channel in an inflatable boat will be queuing up for the vacancies.

Priti Patel will be foaming at the mouth and poor Nigel will be apoplectic with rage!

So some positives then ;)

Is this a parody?

Not seen it, but I would guess he’s referring to the well established correlation between higher income and better life outcomes across all measures. For example this from a US academic paper. If you put money I peoples’ pockets then everything else looks after itself.

The odd thing is for much of the Tory government wages have been significantly squeezed so he’s not actually putting forward an argument that would persuade anyone to vote for his party. https://fullfact.org/economy/how-have-wages-changed/

when the Tories deregulated the buses they kept London Transport in public control...................hmmm wonder what the argument for that was?
