The Conservative Party

Expense abuse was not limited to Tories
Who said it was? Greed doesn't recognise party political boundaries, and we've created a system whereby politicians of all hues can act within the spirit of the law but against the moral spirit of the nation.

I can imagine that they will claim to have fixed the fuel poverty problem by re-defining fuel poverty and at a single stroke fixing it

Well, they have re-defined the current crises as the ’stresses and strains’ of adjusting to brexit.
You know…. like the Titanic had a few stresses and strains as it adjusted to hitting an iceberg.

Andy Burnham M/C MP. Is in that list. Someone else payed and claimed £30.00 for a Black toilet seat with glitter
It’s shamefull when the poor are going to struggle to eat and heat there homes
"The poor you will always have with you" (Matthew 26:11), but a black toilet seat with gold glitter?
Sometimes I'm glad I don't have to wrestle with such choices.

Thirty quid !! **** !! And rank bad amateur - Therese Coffey claimed £200k whilst deciding to take £20 off the poorest

I agree on the salary part. They should be paid far more annually but there should also be a complete ban on holding other positions while serving. There should also be a grace period after service where they are still paid from the public purse but forbidden from fulfilling private functions.

Like the idea of dual MPs. The whole system of representation requires overhaul, and the pandemic should end the ludicrous practice of MPs deserting the House on Thursdays for surgeries/long weekends. If they rotated, one serving the constituency one week in Parliament the next, they might not be so estranged from those they represent, and they might actually get more done. Digital voting would be a start.

Completely agree with all of that.

watching SKYNews and what he says is his research amongst economists indicates inflation is expected to be 4.5% plus until 2023 at least... the party of fiscal responsibility just aren't

4.5% inflation rate will be interesting for many like me when it comes to pay negotiations as when it ranks at the bottom of 1.1% for example that’s what we got offered as it’s always’ that’s what inflation is’ well let’s see now if it’s replicated. Also the inflation rate is mostly lower than the actual cost of living.
your bang on with your last sentence also.
I never witnessed such an arrogant leader so out of touch with a self indulgent cabinet ever in politics. This lot are truly on a different level, even one or two of thatchers mob tried although unsuccessfully to make things better.
But this lot are another level . The red wall who voted for them are now being laughed at by the Eaton masses how through snobbery clearly knew how make them roll over and tickle there bellies. Who’s laughing now.

Is your workforce organised? If so pay neg's start at 5% increase. I can tell you now from my experience we would go in at 7% looking at 5% as a pay increase we could put to our members - anything above is a bigger win

Yes it’s organised mate by myself and one other we’ve got 89% membership . It’s a pretty well payed job in our sector but unfortunately people see the short term picture and not the long term… it’s no coincidence that when it comes to pay talks the overtime is ramped up and that’s all some see, the wage there on not what they could be on if they stood firm. I’m not militant but it’s difficult to convey it’s not just about next thursdays bank balance it’s your pensions sick pay etc. Unions unfortunately are still regarded by most employers as the enemy.
It’s anything but . It’s proven that if pay and conditions go up productivity goes up with it. It’s not rocket science but to the share holders it probably is. Corporate pay increases have absolutely dwarfed shop floor pay increases in the last 20 years especially in the UK more than any other G7 member . Sorry for the long winded reply but as I say the unions are not the enemy in the economy. It’s now coming home to roost pay shite you’ll get shite in return if that.

Yeah - I was with a major union ( unite ) in a FTSE 100 company and its tough the would come pleading poverty but you have to challenge every argument every change to the t&c's and then when they come back to you and explain how in the last year they have lost staff just laugh in their faces....

Exactly everything there mate what you’ve said I’ve been rep now for to long seen four plant managers come and go and I’m still here fighting the fight. I’m now branch sec for the GMB as I said pal I’m not militant but I’ll fight for the workers who need me. It’s a thankless job but when you hear your kids say dad stands up them he’s good … it’s worth every minute.

No consensus on the front pages this morning, but more businesses complaining about energy prices and the lack of Government assistance. Would expect individual MPs to start coming under increased pressure in the coming days, and then it becomes much harder for the Government to stay out of it.
