I'm on the Day Trip Mate.
Expensive, but it's all a case of remaining Annual Leave for me. Plus I was in Belgium just before the lockdown, and whilst the Eurostar is great, you're still farting about at Euston, and wishing you'd paid a bit more and flown home.

£329 for a 300 mile return flight is daylight robbery.
Eurostar is £129 return (including Brussels to Bruges) plus about £60 for a return train from Manchester.

The train adds about 10 hours on in total, and turns it from a one day to a three day trip, unless you pay a fortune for an early Manchester to London train to do it in 2.

Getting the late train on Monday to London so it's only an extra half day off work on the Wednesday and spreading it out makes it a bit more relaxing. Even with two overnight stays included it's still well over £200 cheaper in total for the 3 of us. Having said that I'm travelling with my sons so we're sharing hotel rooms which saves quite a bit.
