"Foden is a winger or False 9 according to Pep", does that mean McAtee is a left back, Walker and Cancelo are strikers ? and it is not what Pep said after Tuesday. Just this past week Pep spoke about Foden's capacity to play in 5 or 6 positions as can Sterling, Grealish, Torres, Jesus, Kevin etc., even Ederson could play outfield in an emergency. We need to set aside rigid terms like 9's or false 9's or wingers, left/right backs etc. and remember that Bruges game. Imo player's who show versatility catch Pep's attention, he is more interested in using players to produce the best "collective" regardless of what positional label or number they are suppposed to be.

agree with everything you say. I am just speaking about the average position or the starting position of the players in a game. but as you said they all interchange within the game. that is the beauty of our system.

To accommodate both of them and Kev might need a formation tweak. I think the form of Kev might have a lot to do with how the team line up as the season goes on. It may end up with jack and Kev rotating.

The top slice of a sandwich might be twice the bottom slice, but it's only the combination that makes it a sandwich and comparisons are only really valuable when you compare identical items.

Grealish had no problem opening up defenses when he was playing with villa . The fact of the matter is we are not going to see the best of Grealish unless he is given a free role in playing on the left side of midfield like he was at Villa.

True but defences didnt sit back and defend in numbers like they do at City when he was at Villa.

not really there is no need for any free role. we will see the best of grealish when the coaching team coaches him fully and integrates him into the team and finds his best position on the field each game.

I watched a lot of Grealish for villa last season . To me he looked the best player in the premier league . Since he has come here he has looked a shadow of the player he was for Villa. That's worrying.

because villa is not mancity, not at all remotely similar how they play. and transferring skills between teams does not happen instantaneously. this is not a FIFA game. it is absolute farce to say he is a shadow. yes he is not yet the Jack he was at villa at the same time he is not like sancho down the road.

No its not.He was a Maverick at Villa,he was given licence to play where he wanted and do as he wished.

Here he is part of a disciplined 11 who are given clear instruction and how they should conduct themselves,its all about the team here and Jack is still getting used to that.....while,despite the bizarre narrative spewed by some,still playing and contributing very well.

Grealish is playing as a striker against Brighton . Absolute insanity . The guy doesn't score goals.
