A thread about protesters

Spare us the incessant party political broadcasts for 5 minutes.
Tell the poor woman, and her family, that was was no harm in
being directly responsible for her being paralysed.

Ah, you mean can we focus on the one case which suits you emotionally rather than damage or death caused by the political decisions you support?

You really think anyone is buying your pretend ‘outrage’? Frankly, it's almost become a parody. Your posts wouldn't look out of place in the letters section of Viz magazine.

A world class lunge for the moral high ground.

Everyone knows they irritate you because they are the antithesis to “I’m alright Jack” Gammon, just like Greta Thunberg.
Oh, so I'm the only one in Britain irritated by these clowns?
The country must be overrun by I'm alright Jack gammons.
You've got a lot of campaigning to do to win them over.

No. There are loads like you which is why we have Brexit, Johnson and a country which is the laughing stock of the world.

It’s the English disease.

So pointing out the dire condition of a fellow human being,
directly caused by these idiots is an emotional response is it?
You are, as usual, part of a small section of society cheering on these lunatics, and you know this, so resort to deflection.
Your posts read like the angst driven rants of a 6th former humiliated in a debate.

It's a perfect storm right now of an older eloctorate happily looking down on society and sneering and a younger generation who are disillusioned by politics not coming together and voting the shysters out.
Until this changes, and sadly there's probably a couple more election wins in them yet, you're stuck with them.

That's an awful shame for you then, the fact that there's loads
of us. I knew Brexit would come up, Bobski's already using tax cuts and austerity when we're talking about road gluers.
Stick around, Phil Foden's haircut may be next.

That's probably because those over 18 are now considered as over the hill.

Indeed, you like denying them.

You annoy the fuck out of people because you fail to grasp even the basics.

I'm not engaged with the climate debate, but even Boris Johnson knows that lecturing China and India, given the west's history, our economic structure and our own dreadful record, is a complete waste of time unless we take a lead.

That is political reality.

As for climate protesters, this is not a left wing cause as such, green politics is its own creature with its own set of priorities, many of them in conflict with traditional left wing tropes.

As for the vehemence of the protesters, I don't profess to know what goes on inside their heads, but I do know two things they know.

1. Traditional protest doesn't work.

2. For them this is an existential crisis, so annoying the likes of you, or me for that matter, isn't really a concern.

If I'm annoying the likes of you, that'll do for me.
'Taking a Lead' is trotted out by the likes of you, and them, to justify antics like we're seeing, it suggests that somehow we're superior in our beliefs, and sooner or later, everyone will fall in line. China, which is a brutal dictatorship, has not followed our lead by having an elected government, and has simply reneged on its commitments to Hong Kong, giving no fucks whatsoever about Britain, not much lead taking there. It's currently making threats against Taiwan, and poking Australia. Yet we're expected to swallow the tripe that some activists spout, which is their only reposte to the outrage generated.
You must know, then again you probably don't, that the vast majority of British people despise these people, yet still you
cheerlead for them.
There are a myriad of causes, these idiots think theirs must take centre stage, and if folk die, well, so be it.

If climate scientists are right, then in the scheme of things what China does politically, to Hong Kong, to Taiwan, to its minorities, to its own people, has no bearing whatsoever on whether our grandchildren get to breathe and is therefore beside the point.

But then your point is to distract.

Knock yourself out with your whataboutism, I get the distinct impression you use it not to derail the argument but to conceal a feeble mind.

It's not working.

You do realise changing will improve our own environment don't you? How our kids live. May as well not bother? That certainly is a twattish comment prevalent with many so congrats.
Improving our own environment is a separate issue to climate change and I'm all for doing anything to improve our environment but I think climate change is a lost cause. Pollution is a very different thing to Co2 emissions which are the main thing we're talking about on climate change. The Insulate Britain lot want insulation so that we don't need to heat our houses up as much by burning gas and contributing further Co2 emissions.

That's an acceptable idea but what I'm say is it'll make no difference whatsoever because the UK's entire contribution to global Co2 emissions is less than 1%. Even if the UK went carbon zero tomorrow then the world Co2 problem would reduce by 1%, however China grows by 5% per year so actually the reality is it's got worse.

We talk of our kid's futures but our kids will contribute more Co2 than any generation before them. I don't know a single kid who doesn't own an iPhone or use social media. Both of these however contribute more Co2 than perhaps the previous generation who instead chose to play football in a field. How many families go on holiday every year and pump plenty of Co2 into the atmosphere compared to 30 years ago?

If we want to take serious action about the problem then we need to look at home and again it comes full circle back to consumption culture. Let's face it our kids are going to suffer either way, they'll either have to cope with the climate change impact or they'll have to give up the things that we now take for granted, you have to pick one of them.

Distract?
Nah, just pointing out the obvious, they'll not be following your lead anytime soon, as I said earlier, they're not even prepared to discuss it, let alone go along with it.

Everything is linked, and by the way kids do what they do because they know no better. This generation has been robbed because leaving your kids in a room with an Xbox or iPad is just too easy. I have to drag my grandkid away and he enjoys getting out once he is there. Parents and schools love the easy option.

Has anybody mentioned that the West, and many others, have delegated their climate burden to the likes of China and India? We want the products and as there’s only one way to pay for it then what do you do?

China have their own problems and now have set a peek of 2030 for the likes of coal, and that’s why they can’t be at COP26, they’re too busy making profit before setting the world straight.

They hold the hand, the West, in its current guise, has lost.
