Crystal Palace (H) - Post-Match Thread

i honestly thought grealish would be deployed as the left mid.

Almost everyone did and I got pelters for pointing out that there was no good reason to expect that to be the case. We're now seeing Foden played out of position to accommodate Grealish, which would be OK if Grealish was getting goals and assists, but he's not really.

We won before Dias. Its not about mentality, its about form and i think a bit of coaching.
Yes, but we were much better offensively, and we were a little fragile mentally at UCL. Watch how Dias was playing today, and how some other players did. The mentality and aggressiveness was on a whole other level.

And sure coaching from the best manager of all time, who has changed our style 3 times and has been successful with all of those.

I'm clearly alone this early post-match with some saying we deserved nothing, i disagree. On first half showing yes, but we came back at them at put them on the ropes, Zaha didnt have a sniff until dying minutes and we were a cunts hair away from a draw if not for that thick(er) red line. 11 men and Stones starting we'd have belted them. Anyway wasnt to be.

Put another way.. Hes generally shit. Hes just shit with a cherry on top and sometimes people only see the cherry.
I have always said I would not like to be in the trenches with him, 2-0 up and a sunny day he looks like a worldie.

The league is a marathon not a sprint. Good job we've got an easy game next week though. CTID

Grealish offers us next to nothing on the left wing. Put him in place of Kev who is totally broken and looks like he needs a break from the game. Something needs to change because we are having far too many nils. I totally trust Pep to pull something out the bag though. He usually does. Liverpool result a blessing

We have assembled a collection of cloned midfielders. The lack of variety has produced an interdependent jigsaw of a toothless tiger. If one or more parts aren't working it falls apart. They scurry around in pretty little circles but against a steadfast defence are easy to hold off and if they do breakthrough they are impotent wanting an extra touch or a scuffed shot. .
At the other end we have a keeper who is massively over rated just because twice a season he pings an inch perfect ball to an attacker who then falls over. As for Laporte -he make Phil Jones look athletic.
Today was a heavyweight bout and we field a flyweight team

Grealish just isnt damaging from the left and his presence there means our best left forward (foden) is being marginalized In a position he is working hard in but isnt a world class player in.

i honestly thought grealish would be deployed as the left mid.
Just wasted all day long on that left wing.Pep needs to help him make it by shifting him.

I feel like Grealish looks scared of using the talent he has. So many times he gets face-to-face with two defenders and then just passes it to Cancelo or someone. Obviously you want to keep possession sometimes, but I'd like to see him running at people a bit more.
He's terrified of taking an actual shot or trying to knick it past a defender. The amount of times he will square up and then just settle for a smash into the defender's shins for a corner is appalling.

You can’t let the opposition score in the first 10 mins, with there first attack on goal ffs, happening too much this..

Do we need a striker again now ?

We’ve always needed a striker and performances like this just add fuel to the fire.

I’d say that even in our best performances this season against PSG, Chelsea and Liverpool we missed a clinical finisher.

We played all three sides off the park, must have had triple the number of shots against them combined and only won one of them.

People here overreact so much. We are 5 points below chelsea(2 if we beat them). Chelsea are struggling to score the opening goal, and they have some tough matches in the next weeks.

Today it was a poor performance by everyone except Rodri and Dias. Dias just has a winners mentality, and I hope the longer he stays with us, the more his mentality is spread on other players.

It’s time for Dias-Stones to be back.
Chelsea also have a world class striker to come back in
