There were rumours last summer that we'd offered him to Spurs as part of a Kane offer. No idea if that were true, and I certainly didn't believe it at the time, but with the way things have developed I'm starting to think maybe there was something to it.

I wonder if the club would try offer Sterling as part of an exchange deal with someone in the future?

That task would be far more likely if he was on a less prohibitive wage/contract.As it stands, few clubs in the world could afford to pay him and that then presents its own problem.....as,unfortunately,he isn't close to being good enough to play for them.

I see only two scenario's......we heavily subsidise his wage in any upcoming transfer deal or we allow him to leave on a free in 18 months.

I can respond in terms that Rodri and Bernardo were both on the way out.

The club were convinced Bernie would not recover his mindset and had asked to leave, while Rodri was struggling with the physicality and it still remains the case that City are looking at another quality DM, although I don't quite share the huge opinion Pep has for Declan Rice, very good player that he is.

I really like Lavia and hope the hurdle we might want to bring in isn't a deterrent to his progress.

We are fucking desperate for a Fernandinho replacement. I called Rodri as nowhere near good enough after 3 games and have seen nothing to change my mind.

Been a poor signing imo.

Poor signing? Not a chance. Has the player contributed to our success? Resounding Yes.

Is he as good as Fernandinho? Probably not but with the right partner alongside he has been one of the best players this season and just like Gundogen he has been hung out to dry from time to time.

Also, if the club wanted a direct Fern replacement then they should have bought one! The same with Sane & Sergio. Look towards the scouting department for answers. A blind man could see that Rodri lacked the speed needed to be a direct replacement.

Sounds like a desperate case of not wanting to admit you were wrong.

I can admit if I am wrong. We all can be critical towards certain players and I have been in the past towards Rodri. However, just like Gundo I can appreciate that some players need to be used in a certain way.

The scouting department and management need to take the brunt not the player who is being asked to play a role they can’t do for a multitude of reasons.

Rodri with Bernardo is a step in the right direction for both players.

Player performance and how Pep utilises them on the pitch is a grey area. Some adapt and have the mental ability and the necessary attributes but some will only be good enough in the right situation due to their obvious limitations.

Bit of a long winded answer lol.

For anyone who could not be bothered reading…Rodri is shit ;)

What would he sell for now ?
I really don’t see much over £50 mil

Surely the reverse is true then for what they can't offer in pace, movement etc (taking form out of it and looking at tool set). He look much more comfortable with Jesus in the 9, going round the LB to the byline last night, we've gotten Raz or Sane in with quick one-twos in the short passing game more times than i can count under Pep.

There are vaiable reasons to sell/move Sterling one but not sure i'd count that as one of them
