Club Brugge (H) - CL - Post-Match Thread

I knew exactly what it was. It was more why now

don’t tell me he has only just worked it out this week because that’s clearly bollocks

so. Why now?
I think he has been irritated since the Liverpool game, for the fact that we didn't win and that Milner ran around fouling at will yet manged to stay on the pitch. He pointed out in his post match interview then that a City player would have been off and only red shirts get away with it.

It sold out, but it wasn’t full and that the attendance won’t have been what it says it was. Back of CBL3 and SSL3 had chunks of empty seats, the corporate areas were sparse in some areas, the 2-3 seats dotted about in most other blocks around ESL1 and FSL1, plus the away end only being ⅔ full.

I reckon it was easily below 50,000 actually in the ground.
Corporate clearly wasn’t sold out and neither was the away end but the rest of the ground was. There are always no-shows amongst season ticket holders in direct correlation with how big the game is. My guess wouldn’t be 1000 ish for this one.

Until Brugges fortuitously equalised, it was Superb City Football, even the usually raggish commentators were drooling of almost a hundred percent possession and infinity touches and passes before we took the lead.

Somehow their goal shocked the lads for most of the first half, save for the last ten minutes or so. I was dreading a Palace reprise, but in the second half, things were returned to their due course.

Chuffed for Raheem's goal that will keep the resident neodippers fewming. The scarlet narrators were waxing lyrical with the quality of the goal, even called a perfect pass to the back of the net by Our Raz.

Also Grealish is adapting well, it'll take a while though, be patient. A hat trick of assists fro Cancelo.

Now away to the swamp and the CR37club.

It was like this in many areas of the ground. Small chunks of seats here and there not taken up.
i sent a pic to an armchair rag and a armchair dipper mate of mine, I was bragging about the quality of my new telly but actually I was in Hospitality (present from my daughter).
He commented about the empty seats. Now i will take some shit as banter , but this from someone who hasn’t been to Klanfield in the 15 years I have known him, he can fuck right off. I have blocked them both on my phone.

Christ, I thought he was going to pick a fight with one of the hacks at one point.
Jesus. Those first couple of mins were hard to get through with that journo incessantly asking what Pep meant about," No one helps us". Pep is fired up and I have no doubt that it will translate to the players come Saturday.

Plus there are people who might be taken ill on the day or, in these Covid times, people who test positive on the day.
Ok they probably only account for about 100 or so but spread around the ground it could look worse.
However I personally would let the fans of other clubs worry about our empty seats. If City say it’s a sell out then they’ll have had the money for those tickets and therefore won’t be bothered surely. This is presupposing that they really are only interested in the money as many folk seem to assume.

So let others worry, I’m not going to lose sleep over it even though I was a no show tonight. :-)
That’s not at you @Didsbury Dave but the people who seem unduly concerned about empty seats.

Excellent turnout at the Etihad tonight. Selling over 50k tickets when not playing glamorous opposition is a good effort IMHO. Especially coming through the Covid crisis.

I’ve not read the last few pages but I’m guessing there’s Blues saying the real fans weren’t at the game tonight and the ground was full of tourists. That’s bollox but who cares.

Haven’t seen so many young teenage lads in the SS for years, great to see and these are the future. Was same at West Ham away carabao.

PSG actually drew against Leipzig. City clearly aren't the fine-tuned machine, but the rest in the group are even worse. All in CL have faults, thankfully.

Peps presser just wow. A legend.. Sterling I was was so pleased for him tonight.. it was so nice to see the other players going over to him after he scored showing a real togetherness.I hope Sterling kicks in from here. Well done by all tonight they were brilliant
