I happened to walk in on my girlfriend yesterday when she was watching Strictly Come Dancing on BBC. Bizarrely, their dance tribute to our troops was to the tune of YNWA. I don't think the British Legion chose the music for that, or maybe they did. Who knows ?

now i understand, i dont watch strictly, cos its shite.
now understand the comments about BBC bias.
if someone could have said it was also on a shit programme I dont watch then I wouldnt have bothered posting

Unfortunately, we don't know what you don't watch. If you give us a list, we'll let you know.

57k?

I would seriously put it higher than that, I was in the Main Stand that day, is was wild, all the walkways rammed with people, Kippax, Platt Lane and North Stand rammed, what a great day but PJ must have made a fortune that day.
Yeah must have been 60k+,I was in the kippax and couldn't see any steps in the seated stands.

Why’s that bizarre? It’s a song from WW2. Or have I completely missed the point? (Wouldn’t be the first time)

And it's a perfectly good song.
That lot don't own it, they just sing along to it.
People ate far too touchy.

omg this is so funny. Why he's shouting and going high pitched I dont know but the horror on his face at some of the English team names is priceless.

Hilarious, At least he clearly pronounces us but obviously never heard of Sheffield, Wolverhampton, Munchengladbach or anywhere else in Germany?

I love it and from now on it'll be Aston Village, Crystaly palace, West Bromwich Sandwich, Tottingham hotspurpiss Lekesester and in Italy Lassi not Lazio for me, thanks for uploading

No, you are right. More coincidental than bizarre in the sense that it has been played twice in the last few days but some of us a) have never heard it played in that context before and b) were unaware, until there was discussion about it over the last few pages (658), that it's associated with WW2 at all. We live and learn.

It’s a horrible song. I don’t like it and never have. Nothing to do with the thieving victims just can’t stand show tunes full stop. Could the Royal British Legion have included it as a tribute to Captain Tom Moore? He did release the song at the height of his brilliant fund raising.
