There are members hanging around here who said the day before Grealish was announced that he had chosen to stay at Villa, “heard from a mate who is close to someone”. Who’s to say who really knows someone or doesn’t? As a journalist, I learned early on never to dismiss anyone’s potential to be a good source

For what it’s worth, I heard from someone (who is unquestionably close to the board) that called the Grealish move back in April also said Kane was nailed on. This was a matter of days before the “staying” announcement. Something drastic changed. This fella is reliable - it’s all done and dusted, no reason to pretend.

Got to wonder what happened between City and Spurs behind the scenes that week.

It’s a done deal to us , has been for months , we was hopeful of getting it wrapped up for this January but to keep all parties happy it’s now looking inevitable that we will have to wait till summer , the media will make a big scene of the wages he will get paid , but he’s worth every penny, plus we’ve offloaded players in the last 18 months to fund him and his wages.

I don’t think that’s what the poster meant

But sometimes they are done months in advance. Bayern for instance does this sometimes. Like with Upamecano, who agreed to a move in February, and was announced
