They questioned why he got the captaincy and were spewing when he claimed he was speaking on behalf of the dressing room after convening a team meeting in the wake of the Super League news.

Maguire took to Twitter to say United players were against it in the meeting.

Which is news to the players, as there was no meeting and Maguire just fancied playing statesman and doing a 'Captain Henderson'.

Squad were very angry and many of them say he's playing at the role.

I watched his podcast for the first time and he made some good points. Tho' he didn't say so directly, his underlying theme was: they need to do what City have done. He pointed to long term investment in infrastructure, training, players and the academy.

If you were a headhunter (recruitment rather than Chelsea) and were asked three years ago to sift through various CVs and pull together a shortlist he wouldn't even have reached first interview stage so why they gave him the job based on a few results against shit teams early door is beyond me.
