Hahaha do these deluded weapons not realise that those managers are all umming and ahhing about them (those that haven’t mugged them off already like zidane), it shouldn’t be the other way round!

Poch will become the first manager to have coached both Messi and Ronaldo if he join the rags. Zidane will become the second if he joins PSG.

Scudamore's comments from 2015:

“It’s a double-edged sword,” Scudamore told Bloomberg. “When your most popular club isn’t doing as well, that costs you interest and audience in some places.”

He then went on to say:

“There’s lots of fans around the world who wish Manchester United were winning it again, but you have to balance that off against, generally, we’re in the business of putting on a competition and competition means people can compete.”

VERY telling.

A 7th placed finish in 2014, two 6th place finishes in subsequent years.

Why didn't they get protection then?

However, if they have any sense they could save themselves quite a bit of money, cut out the middleman and just appoint the VAR officials as managers on a job share.

Let's wait and see what happens. I am not convinced their squad is very talented. I think they have a lot of limited players who are not suited to modern football but are hyped up by the media. For example their whole defence is not skilful or mobile enough and the keeper can't pass the ball. I think appointing Poch will continue their downward spiral.

We have just witnessed one of the greatest series of own goals in the history of football.

The rags are an utter shambles and the world of football is laughing at them, there is no conspiracy, we are just witnessing in the flesh what utter and total arrogance and incomitance looks and smells like and it is utterly glorious.

That's my point though. The PL can ill afford to have the Rag's floundering as it hits them in the pocket.

A lot of pundits assume they have a great squad because it cost loads, gets paid loads, and, well, it's United....

De Gea is a liability, Maguire is just plain terrible, Lindleoff average, Wan Bissaka poor, Shaw having a mare. Midfield doesn't exist, strikers are old, albeit i like Cavani, Rashford is a myth...

To trim down that will be a nightmare considering the bloated wages. And any players coming in will want bloated wages.

That's your heart talking not your head. And yet they were runners up and beat us last season. Then they added Sancho, Varane and Ronaldo to that. The problem is its all ad-hoc and not thought through and they've gone from playing counter-attacking football which worked quite well for them last season (against the better sides) to some unknown style of play which basically seems to revolve around feeding Ronaldo.

Can a new coach get something more out of this squad? The mystery for me is the collapse in form of Shaw and Maguire. They are both decent players imo who have as you said had nightmares this season. Normally a players lack of form can be explained. Injury, unsettled, age etc. But Maguire and Shaw have gone from being strong performers to complete rubbish and its hard to understand why that would be.
