Erling Haaland

Why bother posting something like that? You know as well as anyone that we currently have no idea where he will end up.
Lol that’s every thread here. The Grealish thread was a marvel to watch, every day a new “he isn’t coming” for months, up until literally the day he was announced

I hope we can all agree that if he wants to succeed at being the best footballer he can be then it must be City or Bayern.

If he doesn't choose one of those then I don't think his main motivator is on pitch success and maximizing his talent. So no problem if we don't get him. Nothing wrong with that tbh, maybe money or lifestyle is the top driver. But seems clear to me that City or Bayern are stand out strongest teams who need a striker and have top coaches.

I understand what you are trying to say, but I think it’s a bit presumptuous to say that unless he or any player ends up here or at only one other club, the motivation must be greed. Sure, I don’t want to see great players at Chelsea, Liverpool or United for instance, but I am not going to say that if a player goes there, it’s a wrongful motivation. Even United now can pretend publicly they are on the right track with Rangnick “at the wheel” and it’s all going to be different. As for Bayern, they aren’t signing Haaland, that has been made quite clear. And I’m not sure how exactly they need a striker either.

Total non-starter. Haaland won’t play for Madrid next season.

People who still think he’s staying at Dortmund haven’t been reading the tea leaves well

Remember when you were equally as convinced that there was zero chance he would stay at Dortmund over the summer? You lolled and hehe'd at anyone daring to suggest thet had even a say in the matter. Just saying.

I'd like to see us use the extra cash to really force the issue in January, as opposed to putting it straight into the summer release clause for some positive PR. Go to BVB in January with £100m all-in.
Double down, annoy the fuck out of Barcelona by offering the clause + Torres

:)

I am surprised you remember it’s possible to reply directly to me instead of just subtweeting

You are correct and I multiple times said I was wrong. The reason, of course, was that I assumed Dortmund would have been flexible on their fee.

Now, to be clear, I am not saying Haaland won’t go to Madrid. What I am saying is, and this isn’t just a guess: IF Raiola only wants him to go there, he would be staying another season at Dortmund. There was someone connected to Dortmund who even gave an interview saying something like “he might stay here longer than people think”; based on the whole interview, it didn’t seem to me like he knew something, but that’s the scenario I see.

Whereas there have been good indication of him arriving at a Premier League club

Can't fathom why any top player would want to play in Spain, its just a hotter Scottish Premier league.
It is a decadent league with only one team right now looking like it has a small shot at Champions League success, Real Madrid. I understand Mbappe going there for personal reasons, he is about to release an autobiography which features a drawing of him as a kid sleeping in a Madrid shirt. In a way, him moving from PSG to Real Madrid isn’t that big a change

There are several teams he could go to and be a success. He has a decade plus of football ahead of him and the likes of Chelsea or Liverpool aren't going to ride off in the distance soon.

I'm sure he'll be a success wherever he is, a great player. I'm talking about where he can best squeeze out the maximum of his potential.

I'm not saying that the motivation is "wrongful", I agree there is too much criticism over footballers having mixed motivations. I'm saying that it is clear which is the best place to maximize his football potential. I think you're aligned with this because you acknowledge that United can only "pretend".

As for Bayern; Lewandowski has said he wants a different challenge before the end of his career

I suppose its easy money in the end!

i wonder if ferran would be interested in a move to dortmund if its about playing time? If we could offer say ferran and £50m in january?

Torres would not even be considering a move at this time if it wasn't for one of the big two Spanish teams knocking.

He's been happy enough in Manchester.

Absolutely can't blame him for being up for such a move as a Spaniard.

It's not about playing time, it's about the chance to go home and play for Barcelona.

I don’t think many will have too much of an issue with him going tolm, as long as it’s for market value which I think would be about 70 million ?

And we all know Barcelona don’t have a pot to piss in so will try and low ball us

how do you see this one playing out ?

Makes me laugh the way everyone allows Barca and Madrid to try and bully them, all the media reports about the deal is done bar the transfer fee. Haha, cheeky cunts.
