As you so rightly say.. it’s absolute bonkers mate. A premier league star for nearly a decade and only just entering his prime. Granted, might be out of form for his club but he was arguably the best attacker at the flipping European Championships which was only in the summer and dragged England to their first final in over half a century. Large media presence with his fight against racism.. ultimate professional.. £40 mil? Are we stupid?? that is the type of fee you expect to pay for a mid table central midfielder.. not a top attacking talent for a decent Champions league club (which is where he will go). Bonkers.

Sterling is on 10x Vlahovic and more than Hazard was at Chelsea in wages alone.

Real and Barca burnt millions on Hazard and Dembele and Coutinho. No club is going to make that mistake again.

If he leaves for 40/50m that would be good business, frees up wages and gives us immediate firepower in the window.
 
Great player who needs to rediscover his mojo. Send him out on loan to barca or whoever but only if he signs an extension so he is still our player when the loan finishes. If we don't want him back after the loan sell him then.
If he won't sign an extension then no loan, simple as that

In what world does 40 / 50 million give us immediate firepower in the window ?

just remember that gets you a Nathan ake or a wan bissaka these days .

Many, many clubs will continue to overpay and makes mistakes in signing players. Whether by fee or wages. It's the nature of the game.
 
Our problem is that Sterling is worth what another team will pay for him, and we are not in a great position with only a year and a half left on his contract. As with the other players that want out, I would let him go if we can obtain a recent amount for him, but I am unsure who would/could buy him.

Not to the amount that is been thrown about in here and certainly not over 100m like Hazard and Dembele.

I feel pretty much the same these days .
I've always been one for giving him a chance but you have to draw the line somewhere.

When he's on the ball, I bet I'm not the only one who thinks 'we're going to lose the ball here'.
The amount of times he gives the ball away is becoming a joke.

Daily mail lol, when are people going to cotton on that the papers and pundits make up stuff and claim to be in peps head and every club wants our players and everyone here wants to see our team dismantled so we stop dominating, also it keeps the journos in work

I mean, I'm on the side of the fence that thinks it's time for us to move on and allow him to leave but those jumping for joy? Fucking weird. He's been a fantastic signing who deserves to go with the full support of the fanbase even if his form has been off for a while. For outlay and what he's given us I'd say he's been one of our most successful signings in recent history. We get our transfer fee back plus a bit more then it's brilliant business.
