He came of at half time because of his ankle pep said the same ankle that Southgate played him when injured the **** because since that injury he hasn’t been back fully fit.

where did he say that? Phil suffered a foot injury with England. The ankle injury is from the everton game when he got rolled up on.

Dont understand playing him if its not right. Sounds like it might need managing so playing him so soon after Watford in a meaningless game isnt the best move

Gordon did that on purpose, he's a sly little fucker, barged Tierney in the back and into the advertising hoarding's last night, he's going to injure someone badly soon.

I've said it before- he's wasted on the wing. Especially vs fast and physical fullbacks. He needs to be in the center of the park, turning with the ball and attacking defenses.
I agree that he'd be able to showcase a lot more of his qualities if he was more central. The problem is that playing in midfield in a Guardiola team is so demanding and clearly Pep isn't ready to trust him in that role yet, at least not against good teams anyway. I remember he started in midfield away at Leeds last season and the game kind of passed him by. Since then he's only really got a chance to play there against lower league sides in the cups or maybe if a game is pretty much won, Pep might sub a midfielder off and move Phil there. It's a gradual process but I do think he'll end up in midfield in a couple of seasons, perhaps when KDB and Gundogan are either playing a lot less or have left the club.

He is 21. If Pep dosent trust him at 21 to play in central midfield. He never will.

With foden range of passing and his ability to beat players. He can be the best midfielder in the Premier league.

He would blow that pretender jorginho out of the water.

Wait why are you comparing Foden to Jorginho? They play completely different positions

I an comparing then because I believe Central midfield is foden best position

I am saying that if foden was played in midfield like jorginho. He would be the best midfielder in the Premier league.

Not a prayer, not yet anyway

He’s being nurtured into that position, much like a young buck who is put at full back to evolve into a centre half, not disciplined enough yet and can be certainly got at, especially at the higher end of the game...

that being said, 21 he’s better than 70/80% already but it will come at the pace being set

Such a good player. Unlucky to not get a hat trick, really.

only player who should be taking corners. That was a set play for Ake and he put it right on his head. Almost got the same for Rodri in the first half.

This is why I wanted him at false 9. I alluded to this earlier in that his pace, directness and technique can really be used in that role well

With Grealish LW I think it's a good combo because I think both are able to rotate at will.

Foden LW, Grealish CF --> Foden can cross more and Grealish can focus on control and scoring

Grealish LW, Foden CF --> Grealish can dribble more to create and Foden can try to score or drop deep as a midfielder

I mentioned they could do this as a LCM and LW, but the CF spot works even better because it means they are higher up and just let's players like Gundogan or Bernie behind them.

Edit: Going forward I see no reason why Ferran cannot do something similar as a CF as well. Switching with the LW or RW (he seems comfortable on either wing). He's just not as flexible as Grealish or Foden whose play doesn't drop at all when switched from wing to center.
