Erling Haaland

not even TH can establish whether we have the money....if another club comes in with an offer first noone outside of Khaldoon and Txixi know if we will match it.....no one really knows what Haaland/Raiola want either (everything in the media is pure specualtion) so again noone can know whether we will match what is needed....

Our record in deals such as this suggest that we wont (but it could be different this time)....Sanchez, Maguire Jorjihno to name 3 obvious ones where there was a bidding war and we dropped out (not that that turned out bad in any of those situations!)
When is the etihad shirt sponsorship deal up, is it in the summer.
New sponsorship deal will cover wages for Haaland

Don't assume that. I have heard from a reliable source in the business world that City's team are not finding it easy to get an equivalent deal from anyone.

If it wasn't for that we'd have 200 pages of comments saying we'd never spend the money on Haaland because we don't do mega transfers.

So that's a relief.

On top of the 200+ claiming that already on here?

If Haaland chooses purely on football matters he comes to us, simple as that . What other club can offer him the style and standard we can at this time ? If money is the overall factor then it's a different story .

Believe covid didn't help, most businesses tighten their belts.
Interesting that Sony have linked up with the club recently

If we don't do absolutely everything we can on this one I'm not interested in listening to Khaldoon tell us how serious we are in his videos anymore, because it's not true.
So spending a billion plus in 12 years & spending £100m on one player isn’t being serious?

I’d love to hear what you consider as being serious?

Plus what if Pep veto’s it & doesn’t want him? Hardly Khadoon’s fault if that happens is it?

I’m really not following your logic about being serious mate. I think we have the most serious board in football

I hope what you say is true but the fact that Pep wanted Harold Kane so badly last summer makes me think he may not fancy Haaland.
I must admit I can’t quite get my head round this, why go for Kane in August instead of Haaland in January? Seriously our intention is not to buy both, so that means either Norwegian doesn’t to come here or Pep doesn’t want him?

If you don't do everything you can to try to sign a generational talent (actually generational, not the guys that come around every year) at a position of need for a reasonable release clause and the excuse if that you don't like the agent or something dumb like that then you aren't serious. That's the logic.

You've no idea what the reason will be yet if we fail, so there's a lack of logic to attribute blame/lack of seriousness

Unless Grealish turns out to be a great signing, which, seeing as he’s a great player isn’t beyond the realms of possibility.
Of course the few on here who have already made their minds up on him after less than 20 games will continue to tell everyone else he’s a waste of money.
I haven’t made up my mind yet, but I am starting to form an opinion.
I really hope he’ll kick on and make me re-assess over the next 6 months. Y’know, when he hits that screamer in the ECL final ;-)

So you’re ignoring the fact of the money we’ve spent since 2008 & the fact we’ve just broken the British transfer record?

You also believe if we don’t sign him it’s because Pep doesn’t like Raiola, which is pure fantasy considering we’ve dealt with Raiola whilst Pep’s been manager

Who has a more serious board than ours cos I can’t think of any, which I’d suggest is backed up by the whole infrastructure of the club & what we’ve won? Our board is on a completely different level to any other club in my humble opinion

Still not understanding your opinion mate. Makes no sense to me whatsoever

Ok that's fine, agree to disagree.

Well anyone making a judgement on a player we buy under Pep in their first season is a fool.
Having more money in an imaginary pot makes bugger all difference to what we are prepared to pay for Haaland. We will have a vlaue on him and being able to pay over that value doesn’t mean we would or should.
Well I'd love nothing more than Grealish to prove his worth!

I’m sure you would, I’m just unsure what it is that makes you think unlike all the other players that took a while to adjust Grealish won’t. Plus you still haven’t explained haw it changes the value we put on Haaland.

I don't doubt he will improve, he certainly should under the tutelage of the worlds finest coach. He has some excellent footballing traits but I don't think he is good enough to be in our front 3. I don't mean to be disingenuous with that comment, I don't think he has enough pace, strong enough finishing or his clinical goal scoring ability is strong enough. His decision making will improve and a future Gundogam replacement certainly a possibility, but again I'm not sure he is good enough for number one choice for our starting front 3 again.
I personally don't think we would have been so desperate to sign him if he wasn't English, which is a big plus point with the perceived imminent departure of Sterling.

I did answer the question, all the money comes from the same pot and like it or not we are constrained by FFP. I'd hate to see us lose out on Haaland because we have overspent on other areas.
