They effectively decided to have a 1 lap world title with one driver being allowed to race on fresh soft tyres versus the other, who drove a better race, to try and defend on a set of old hard compound tyres....ridiculous

Add to that the fact they said lapped cars wouldn’t be allowed through and then suddenly pushed all the cars between Lewis and Max through so he could have a free run on him. Absolute cheating.

So they literally said let the 5 through so Verstappen can win.

A lot of convenience in that race a virtual car then safety car then they say max had to pass the back markers in the end it was a farce! Overall over a season max just deserved it but just can’t warm to him.

Anyone summarise what just happened. Just following this thread and have no idea what the controversy is.

In normal circumstances the unlapping cars would be given a lap to overtake, meaning the safety car would have stayed out for another lap and the race would have finished as they were.

The stewarding/directorship of the past few races has been lamentable. Inconsistent and unexplained on other occasions.

Now for a post-race DQ on some technicality...
I can't see there being a successful appeal on the lapped cars issue.
