F1 Season 2021

What’s gone on? Seen he’s won but what’s the controversy?
Safety car on lap 54/55 to clear Latifi's crashed car. Bunched the pack up, eradicating Lewis's lead over Max. Lewis only 0.4 seconds ahead when SC comes in, Race Control only allows 5 backmarkers through instead of the whole pack. Max on better tyres overtakes and holds off Lewis on the last lap.

Even if there is an enquiry and the "result" is overthrown, it still means that millions of viewers were cheated out of the sporting moment.
Used to love F1 years back, stayed up to watch Schumacher and Hill in that Aussie face off, where Schumacher made sure Hill's race was over. It wasn't funny at the time, but over the years I saw it for what it was and laughed at Schumacher's sheer twattery.
This is different though.

Playing 'Devils' here, but our footballers are millionaires and we get pissed off with dodgy decisions.
Of course that is the case but let’s face it, you’re not replying to someone who’s going to be troubling the Mensa admissions board.

So did fia say no lap drivers overtake? Res bull whinged then fia said ok just those 4 lapped drivers overtake but no one else l?

Thanks, guy.

There was more controversy as race director Michael Masi initially said lapped cars between Hamilton and Verstappen would not be allowed to un-lap themselves, as is normal practice.

Red Bull complained and Masi changed his mind.

All you need to know.
if that goes to appeal/court then they will be fucked, surely?

If they wanted a grandstand finish for the final lap they should have let lewis get some fresh boots on and had a one lap finale then......

it's different when a driver to win at all costs does something shitty in the heat of the moment. It's still wrong, but it's human.

Once you get institutional corruption fixing things, then you have no accountability and you lose all faith in the entire sport.

Like being pissed off that Salah dives but the real cheat is the VAR still allowing it to be a penalty. VAR is faceless and you lose all faith in the sport as a result.

F1 just killed itself as a credible entity today but that wasn't just a hot blooded driver, that was institutional. You can't regain public trust after a stunt like that.

I’ve been to a number of F 1 races was intending going to the Canadian Grand Prix Montreal but the pandemic put paid to that, after this farce today I think I’ll leave it a bit longer too even bother watching it now absolutely farcical finish..
I've watched F1 for over 40 years and my Dad much longer and after a few years that have been really uncompetitive it's been good to have a couple of teams competing against each other.

Unfortunately, the FIA decisions in the last 4 laps of the race today have put an end to my F1 viewing, a total farce, changing the rules 30 seconds before a safety car comes in was ridiculous.

When Latfi hit the wall, Verstappen had 5 back markers to clear, Hamilton had done so and was 12 seconds ahead, under a safety car you can't over take, but some how the Red Bull managed to be next to Hamilton. Red Bull said they needed a miracle, and that appeared when Masi changed the rules.

Add to the fact the Red Bull had already used Perez as a blocker earlier in the race to slow Hamilton down, and also as a slip stream in qualifying the day before. Without either action been mentioned.
