F1 Season 2021

Both Verstappen & Hamilton have had brilliant seasons and yesterday was simply wrong.
However, it wasn't MV's fault or RB's.
It all goes down to Masi......and lest we not forget the farciacal Belgian GP where he ran for 2 laps under a safety car that got max his extra points and "win" that gave him that little edge going into yesterdays race.
Again, not MV/RB's fault, all down to Masi!

Hamilton certainly went up in my estimations yesterday but i still think Horner is a a cock.
Karen Horner.

The thing that’s irritating me is seeing all the commentators referring to Verstappen as a “deserved champion”.

Him having a great season doesn’t justify the farce of the ending yesterday, rules can’t just be amended on the fly and the consequences fobbed off because it’s perceived as “deserved”.
I must admit this attitude from some of the comentators has supprised & disapointed me, "oh isnt it nice to have a different winner" yes it might be good for the sport to have a different winner but only if they win it in a fair way, what happened yesterday was a complete shambles & whichever way you look at the race, the driver that deserved to win it didnt simply because the race director made the rules up as he went along.

As I said in a previous post this is the first time I've watched a full F1 race for about 25 years. I've seen bits of races and highlights. A couple of questions for those who watch it regularly and also watch other motorsports.
1) If say this had happened at a very long circuit and Hamilton had a 57 second lead over second place, would that lead still have been wiped and the second car have been placed right behind him.
2) Does this happen in other motorsports such a motorbikes, touring cars etc

To me it seems ridiculous that you can spend say 90% of the race building up a commanding lead, only to have it wiped by something that is not your fault. Surely with the technology these days they could put the cars back in exactly the same positions as they were before the delay. So if first was 14 secs ahead of second you take a speed limiter off the first car as he starts a new lap then when he gets 14 seconds ahead repeat this down the field.(including any lapped cars in between). This seems much fairer to me.

It was perfect for them as they had it all with that race. Ex-drivers know that it was a farce but outwardly they have to toe the line as that’s what they are getting paid for.

There is the Virtual Safety Car which can be used, essentially slowing all the cars down to maintain their relative positions.

Mercedes and Toto’s silence on this is very telling imo. They are going all the way with this appeal and rightly so I would guess.

It would have been simple to have the two cars starting side by side for the last lap and the one behind at the time the safety car was actioned should have whatever the margin was as a handicap at the finish. This way Max's handicap would have meant that he had to finish 12 seconds ahead of Louis

I see Verstappen's win has brought out the racists in celebration all over social media. So really horrific memes going round.

One simple fix to prevent this bullshit in future maybe the FIA ruling team bosses cannot lobby Masi during a race.

Absolutely brilliant piece today from Martin Samuel.

Blues will enjoy the City and United analogy.
I Have been trying to think of a football analogy & the only one I can come up with is if two teams were playing on equal points at the top of the league & one team were winning comfortably untill the last minute of stoppage time when the ref shouts "Change of rules, next goal wins it" & the team that were losing score a goal because the team that were winning were knackered?

After putting all the kids on for the last 5 minutes

Samuel is a little more scathing than that...

'There was a reason that on the balcony of the Paddock Club at turn one of the Abu Dhabi circuit, stood Paul Harris of Monckton Chambers, if F1 was just about having the fastest car, Mercedes wouldn't have felt the need to engage the Barrister of the Year for 2021, as awarded by the Litigation Tracker team of The Lawyer.

'Harris represented Manchester City against Uefa at the Court of Arbitration for Sport. For a City supporter, as he is, that was something of a late away win.

'This, it is fair to say, must have felt like losing a 90th minute offside winner at Old Trafford, punched into the net by the Manchester United centre forward, while the referee was unconscious, having been knocked over while tying his boot laces, and facing the wrong way. He wakes up, gives the goal, then immediately blows the final whistle."

Yeh, Posted the link on here last night. Its a great analogy though.

I mean what's the point in this mate?

He was the most gracious person in the sport yesterday.

Certainly a lot more gracious than I would have been and a lot better than you're behaving.

It's a JOKE going ROUND various social media platforms, that I thought I'd share.
I've not watched a GP race for 30 years, as it bores the tits off me.

Grow up!!!!

Am I the person who supports Masi. The team's all agreed they wanted races finished under racing conditions and not safety cars. The track was safe for them to finish the race so they went racing even if it's for one lap. The Racing director has the say when the safety car goes out and comes in its all in the rules.

So how do you justify some but not all cars unlapping themselves?

Then change the rules before the race not 20 seconds before a restart going on to the final lap, if it had been arranged like before the race Hamilton would have had to come in for tyres even if it would have meant losing position to Max that would have been his only chance of finishing first as it was he was left a sitting duck.
