F1 Season 2021

Probably already posted but I'd be surprised if Masi survives this.

"In 2020, there was a safety-car period during the Eifel Grand Prix at the Nurburgring. Both Hamilton and Verstappen complained it had been unnecessarily long.

Masi was asked about this after the race. He said: "There's a requirement in the sporting regulations to wave all the lapped cars past."

Sainz on the radio discussing how unfair it would be to restart the race (he had 2 lapped drivers in front of him and not Verstappen).

It's becoming clear that the closest finish to an F1 season in decades and the chance to win new fans has been royally cocked up. Going to be interesting how it goes from here. I don't expect Verstappen to be removed as champion but it's going to taint his victory.

Ricciardo also was on the radio

I think a lot of the drivers didn't want to rain on Max's parade with their post-race interviews on the day, but their radio messages show how they felt, and as more distance passes they'll get more critical.

Sainz was clearly bothered about keeping his podium finish, and finishing best of the rest in the championship.

With good reason though, they left 2 lapped runners in front of him, so instead of maybe gambling on any errors from Verstappen and Hamilton. He's sat defending 3rd from the rest of the field, as 2 slower cars are in front of him.

Go through the field and there's even more bizarre stories, the 5 lapped cars who were sent through were baffled that they were left in no mans land.

Norris basically said he'd understand if Mercedes were pissed given their race strategy.

In-fact, I've yet to see a single driver come out and say the right decision was made.

Not surprised, I read some of Ricciardo's comments after the race too and he wasn't happy that the 5 lapped runners in front were allowed to make their way back round but him and Stroll weren't allowed.

Those 5 were basically given half a laps head start on him and Stroll.

The more you look into it the more baffling the decision is. It was a 'racing call' for just 1 of the 14 drivers still going.

Speaks volumes doesn't it?

Max & Horner are the only 2 people to suggest masi git it right.

Watched the whole thing back again last night and it really was incredible. You can hear Masi on the radio all flustered and not knowing what to do. Then he speaks to Horner and comes up with that nonsense!

At least football doesn't have the audacity to broadcast David Gill telling Mike Reilly & Co. that the rags just need a last minute penalty!
As if we didn’t know….

Not being an avid follower of motorsport I thought Masi was incompetent or bent, having spoken to a colleague who spends 10s of thousands following the sport I am leaning on incompetent as he was massively under qualified. His past experience was deputy race director of Aussie v8 and Hong Kong prix whatever those are. He was due to start directing F3 races when Charlie Whiting passed away and he got the got the gig basically because he was Australian and they didn’t want to postpone the Australian Grand Prix and the fia then did a United hatchet job and forgot to replace him with a more experienced & skilled race director.

Right now I have no interest in watching next season and this is a Sunday tradition in my household. That shadyness has put the "sport" in to a horrible light.

I want to enjoy a sport and not theatre which is wirrten by race directors as the event unfolds.
I'm no F1 fan but I remember the first VAR decision that we suffered against Spurs (I think) where the winning goal was chalked off, and then walking back to the car in shock at how the sport was being influenced by officials - I was ready to quit going right there and then. I never thought I'd say it but I've got used to it now, even if I still hate it. What I mean to say is I hope you get over it, next season isn't too far away, and Mercedes will be everyone's favourite team with Red Bull being the confirmed rags of F1 (I've already read an article where one of them has said Mercedes are being sore losers over it). So far Mercedes and Hamilton have been a class above.

Am I the person who supports Masi. The team's all agreed they wanted races finished under racing conditions and not safety cars. The track was safe for them to finish the race so they went racing even if it's for one lap. The Racing director has the say when the safety car goes out and comes in its all in the rules.
So why wasn't Carlo Sainz allowed to race?

Personally I wouldnt want to win like MV I wouldnt want City to win like that.

Perhaps it's an age thing a different generation. I just dont see how you can celebrate when you win like that, knowing rules were broken. I would wanting to know I won fair and square.

It's not just f1 look at all the cheating in football, diving, rolling around as I shot. UEFA, refs etc
Age thing my arse. Plenty of old cunts, plenty of young cunts, plenty of decent oldies, plenty of decent young'uns.
