I have read that a a double Pfizer + a Pfizer booster gives about a 75% efficacy. I can’t find anything about the figures for double AZ + a Pfizer booster. I am 72 so am I right to be wary?
Don't worry. Pfizer or Moderna after 2 AZ vaccines is suppsoed to be very effective.I have read that a a double Pfizer + a Pfizer booster gives about a 75% efficacy. I can’t find anything about the figures for double AZ + a Pfizer booster. I am 72 so am I right to be wary?
Dont be coming on here with your positivity and good vibesPhew……..for a moment there I thought it might have been because of some good news re Omicron.
Im being sarcastic. It is good news and I believe it’s because of the data now coming through re Omicron.
Funny I was talking about this on here and I’ve not had a proper flare up for ages….until tonight whilst at the game! Absolute nightmare. Missed 3 goals whilst getting checked out. Horrible. Home now though so hopefully will settle down a bit.Thankfully I've never needed medication as I haven't suffered badly from it and not really at all anymore. Most of my previous episodes were a cycle where you think about something and then almost make yourself ill thinking about it...... I've learnt to nip that cycle in the bud which has really helped.
If I ever feel under the cosh I just do something different like have a trip to the lakes or whatever at the weekend, getting outside into nature really does wonders.
For men mental health is a huge issue so even as a football forum this is a great outlet for many I'm sure. The pandemic is bound to have worsened mental health so I hope others know that they can talk on here if they need to, especially if they're concerned about COVID.
Sorry to hear that mate, must have been a proper shitter for you. Hope feeling better now.Funny I was talking about this on here and I’ve not had a proper flare up for ages….until tonight whilst at the game! Absolute nightmare. You're entitled to go with the ONS but everything else you've posted is wrong.why would actuaries know a thing or 2 about death rates? They are basically risk assessing accountants.
this group tho as you say are selectively ignoring data they don’t want to include and changing the way excess deaths are calculated by the ONS to prove a point they wanted to make. Aka talking bollocks.
I’ll go with the ONS on this one.
Shouldn’t this be in the data thread?Fuck covid, City won 7-0.
Don’t give up the day job.Shouldn’t this be in the data thread?
It isn't quite a lot in six months or the ten months it covers. Not in a country of 60m people. They ought to.
I mean tho, 5k is what, 200 a week? Three times the annual deaths on the road in six months. Quite a lot - given we lost so many eldery and ill people in the 18 months prior. I've heard quite a lot of people say that there will be drop in excess deaths after COVID due to this fact. Obviously nowhere near that point yet.
Anyway it has little to do with the official usage of the term 'Pandemic'. They're going to call it that because it is a recognised term in science and sociology. It's a very prevalent disease that remains significant in all manner of ways. The numbers you quote pretty much back that up. If they called it something else they'd have to change a few other definitions. Daft hill to die on, kid.
We're facing a virus that's out of control (until in burns itself out). We're fortunate to have a vaccine but if we didn't, social isolation, and quarantine would be the only way. Historically quarantine is how people dealt with infection. There is no principle against that that's worth arguing for.It isn't quite a lot in six months or the ten months it covers. And it isn't the definition I'm challenging, it's using the idea that we're in the midst of a deadly plague, which is demonstrably untrue, to justify daft restrictions on people's lives.

How would you have dealt with Covid without a vaccine? I am sure you will come up with something good with the benefit of hindsight
7. I reckon at the rate this is burning it will peak and crash. And then what comes after? More variants? Possibly but expect less effect and better vaccines (although a vaccine Mk II wont be ready by then). We'll also have anti-virals by then (though too late for now). That's crystal ball gazing though isn't it. Not really sure what's going to happen next week, let alone February. I think though it will be clear in 7-10 days what the short term future is. There must be well over a quarter of a million with omicron at the moment. In a week, will they be ringing hospitals, or recovered? On a scale of 1 to 10 what’s the chance of going to Lisbon ?
You then have no principle against restrictions then and it's just a strategic call for you. The physics of respiratory infection means that social distancing and social control whether it be a commune or a dictatorship of capital will have at its core elements of social control. We have vaccines but we have only boosted 25 million people and in excess of 200,000 people have omicron in the UK now, and its doubling every 2 days. if you think that vaccination which may take 14 days to have an effect is the sole defence then you are one poor general. We have vaccines.
Let’s hope so, feel like society is getting to a tipping point.7. I reckon at the rate this is burning it will peak and crash. And then what comes after? More variants? I don't recall the same policy with the delta variant, which became dominant in the UK in June. The red list stayed in operation for some months after delta became dominant.zero point in keeping the red list to slow down a variant that is already dominant or will be very soon.
Believe me, that’s not normal in SA politics.I watched that while working. She was very positive. The thing that stood out most to me was that the politicians on the committee behaved like adults and were polite to each other. It was very odd.
