After 3 jabs, no, not really. You’ve less chance of dying of covid, omicron or not, than normal flu.Or die with it.
I don’t think it will be. I’m semi hopeful that Omicron may well be the natural way out of the pandemic if it is mild and acts as a natural vaccine.Agreed and despite my posts, I’m not a grey pal, I do as I’m told, do my civic site to protect myself and others but just feel we are now going down roads that will be never ending for a tiny vocal minority and it’s that situation that worries me.
Not gonna lie, I’m preferring the news out from SA to the U.K. at the moment.
It’s all a game of risk assessment. The worst case scenario is Omicron mutating and being contagious ++ and more severe than it is.As I pointed out yesterday, it’s reckoned that 50% of adults (20-40) in South Africa could have it at the one time, but because they don’t have the same level of restrictions in place, or testing, the country can still function. I’ve yet to hear the U.K. Government asked what it will do in that eventuality, though I suspect that at that point it will downgrade Omicron’s severity and encourage everyone back to work. Best enjoy the hibernation when it comes, I say. :-)

Best case is that it’s now akin to a common cold and acts as a natural vaccine and kills off Covid 19 as a threat.
The reality will probably be somewhere in between.
Studies have shown that being vaccinated doesn't stop you passing on the virus but it greatly reduces that chance of you transmitting it. This is something that needs to be messaged much more effectively by our government.I don’t necessarily disagree about LFT’s in theory but, for them to be effective, you’d need to do them when you turned up at the event/restaurant/pub. Imagine doing a pub crawl and doing 8 LFT’s!
My main point though was that, having been tripled jabbed, I can still pass this virus on. If the point of the ’pass’ is to not spread it, vaccination status is pointless. Also, I can’t see why a lateral flow test would not do for NHS and care workers rather than mandatory vaccines.
Because some people, including prominent posters on this thread, seem to get some sort of kink out of doom and gloom.![]()
GP who discovered Omicron says Boris is ‘verging on hysteria'
Doctor Angelique Coetzee, who raised the alarm about Omicron, said the 'mild variant' could help people build natural immunity without making them too sick.metro.co.uk
for some reason we seem to be ignoring what South Africa are telling us About this variant.
I don’t take much notice of what Johnson says to be honest. His risk management is more about keeping parties out of the news.![]()

I agree, though I think there should be a bit more push back in the media on the scientists/advisors/politicians in regards to why they appear to be cherry picking information from South Africa. It’s all a game of risk assessment. More cold like than death like is definitely my preferred choice.I agree, though I think there should be a bit more push back in the media on the scientists/advisors/politicians in regards to why they appear to be cherry picking information from South Africa.
Assuming that it doesn’t become the Armageddon feared, I suspect society will either come to a shuddering halt early next week, at which point the government will either have to do another U-turn or put the country into hibernation, or, in the first week of January, with a new year ahead and a sense of resolution, the general public will have decided that the symptoms are more ‘cold-like’ than death-like’ and demand an immediate return to normalcy.
Should be an interesting few weeks.
Presumably if you go 10-15 minutes before they close, there can be hardly anyone there…Bickering and conspiracies aside...anyone know what the queues are like at the Etihad jab centre?
As bad as match days?
You shouldn't have to pay mate.Booked in for my booster on Sunday, only had my second dose in like May and I'm guessing it will be pzifer again?
London was a joke during the first lockdown, very few wearing masks compared to the rest of the country.
I was expected Pfizer but was given Moderna.Booked in for my booster on Sunday, only had my second dose in like May and I'm guessing it will be pzifer again?
Most people I've spoken too seem to be getting Moderna recently.I was expected Pfizer but was given Moderna.
