Bloody hell. Well glad you got through it.

For what it's worth, I'm in my 30s with no health conditions, caught it last Autumn and it knocked me on my arse for 3 weeks and I was still feeling the effects a year later in some form or another. Nowhere near as bad as yours, but I can't get my head round people not being able to accept it has pretty different consequences for different people. Wild we keep having to explain that to people.

I was in my 50s with no health conditions,work with the public day in day out all over country never thought I'd catch it believed it was like swine flu or bird flu and just be one of then stories on telly.The number of home's I visit where they've lost somebody to this disease is quite high, anybody thinks it's made up is off their trolley.

Well over half of Jab2s have had the booster now.

I was queueing for 80mins to get mine today (Thurs 16th), so I imagine that number will shoot up some more this week.

Took the missus down to the Etihad for hers last night (Wed)took over an hour really busy there she said the nurse who gave her the vaccine been there since 7am and still going a half 7 at night, great effort they're putting in.

Or is there an amount if NI you think they should have paid before they get treated... That's a dark path to walk down.

I think everyone should be vaccinated and maybe removing things like the ability to get into sporting events or go into pubs will help but I'm not a fan of withholding medical treatment.

I'm responding to your claim that those infected will have paid NI for years.

Being overweight put him at a higher risk, the vaccine made sure he didn’t fucking croak it as a result of that higher risk.

Getting the entire population to get fit isn’t realistic in stopping serious illness over a short space of time, a mass vaccine rollout is realistic.

The vast majority of people are saved by the vaccine so they’re right to think that. Of course a small number of people will get seriously ill but if every adult in the country was at least double jabbed, with many having boosters, the number of deaths per day would be significantly lower and likely below 100.

From the government’s point of view, trying to get millions of people on treadmills just ain’t gonna happen, the vaccines give us the best chance of getting out of this and giving individuals the best chance of surviving it.

The USA has a huge population and its atypically old. That doesn't help.

One for the science boffins. It is possible to test blood to determine the strength of an individual’s T-cell immunity, so could that be done on scale, for example via commercially available test kits, or can it only be done in laboratories?

Not really since most people are just getting on with their lives:

Project fear are the people who won’t take the vaccines. That includes some footballers being paid ridiculous amounts of money who are responsible for fans travelling across the country only to have matches cancelled at short notice. It also includes people who don’t work but are happy to increase the risks for others.

A lot of the people claiming everyone else is living in fear can’t even create an atmosphere at a football match, otherwise the Etihad would be rocking for every home game.

They also seem to want stewards to get a hard time at home games by not filing in online forms that it takes 2 mins to complete.

Btw I’ve got a packed weekend of events including a Christmas do, work, 5 a side and 2 Premier League football matches. Some peole might restrict their activities in the run up to Christmas and that’s their choice.

Anyone know if the period in which an individual carries the virus is shorter, longer or the same as, let's say, delta?

I think that would be more difficult than an antibody assay because I suspect that rather than just merely detect a specific antibody you would have to go further and see if the T cell fraction was then able to neutralise virus. In the case of antibodies to a certain virus we know what they look like (there are many).

This would be my guess based on limited knowledge of T cells. Antibodies receive much more coverage.
