Alexandole Boris de Pfeffel Johnson

All he had was get brexit done and the lie on the bus , he has nothing else , die hard oldies will vote for him , my vote might not count for the hundreth year mind even if he has gone , going improves the tories chances of course

So its between Truss and Gove then?
Last time out it was the inevitable BoJo v's Hunt. Hunt was the sensible alternative that wasn't going to BS through the brexit end game. Gove was very close to the last 2 and rumours at the time were that the BoJo camp switched a few MPs on to Hunt to ensure he didnt have to face Gove with the membership.

In a very pivotal brexity time Hunt got a significant chunk of the vote - 34% way higher than I thought he would get.

So i expect Gove to get to the last 2 this time but who against i have no idea. The current crop of tory MPs relied on working class brexit voters. I dont think any of the potential candidates have any appeal to that demographic. Truss if I had to pick and I think Gove beats her if it goes to a membership vote.

As it turns out, given his admission that he had no intention of keeping to the deal, especially the NI protocol, he didn’t even have ‘get brexit done’ as he knew it was an almost impossible task, but it gets votes and that was all that mattered.
Of course he also had that other catchy gimmick - levelling up’.
If ever there was a vague, intangible and ultimately unsubstantiatable concept, this was it. Levelling up what with whom or whom with what?

Dead Man Walking - I doubt they will get shot of him now but we can all be happy in the knowledge that his Xmas is ruined as he will have to spend it plotting and scheming trying to save his own skin but one more revelation over that period and he won't be back at number 10 for the New Year - this weekends headlines could be fun

No one wants to take over the Tories in this pandemic, there's nowt but bad news coming down the pipe, it might as well dump on the dead man walking.

When there's less shit plopping on their key demographic, or they can sweeten it a little, that's when the feral fuckers will pounce.

It was always a nonsense phrase. A 1984ish version of trickling down. It's a verbal smokescreen for the rich getting richer.

Do you really think he cares enough for 'plotting and scheming'? I don't. He will just carry on as he has been. He knows that, come the next GE, he will be the 'likeable rogue' who will appeal to the morons. He is 'different' and not like a real politician.

Agree. Its a bit of a cult, to accept BoJo has to go is to accept he is full of shit and that will not sell well to the hard core base. No other tory can sell the BS and distract from the reality like he can. The actual record is appalling - brexit a disaster and tax's and standards of living down. Without the clown act its going to look bleak.

I listened to a very good podcast several months ago and it was explained why levelling up was just bullshit.

The biggest cities don't tend to have the moment in the sunshine and then fade away like football clubs pre-premier league. London is never likely to become 1990s Liverpool.

Most of the biggest and most important cities in Europe have been important for hundreds of years.

The only way to change that would be a colossal political project of decentralisation (something the anti-government party doesn't like doing) and things like moving the capital still have limited effectiveness.

Other than government buildings and the Parliament, Brasilia is still less important than Rio or SP.

Just smoke and mirrors to bring in things like freeports and reduce taxes and transparency.

When the membership were recently polled Truss won by a country mile. Gove got 4% of the vote.

Taking it down to eat or drink?

Until very recently it was okay not to wear one, but despite that I don't think I have got on a train without a mask since March 2020. Plenty of selfish people who didn't though.
Working on the fuckers I see the lack of mask wearing on a daily basis. BTP and management don't want to know and I'm getting earfuls from passengers for not enforcing it. All I'm instructed to do is make a robotic announcement about its mandatory to wear them.

"Prime Minister - we are in the shit over these parties - we need to announce an enquiry "

" Of course - time to get Simon on the case - get case on the blower for me. Simon old bean I need you to root around publicly and confirm that nothing happened ...wha?..... You had one too? Don't forget thats fine as long as you tell the proles all guidelines were followed"

Thats why his Housemaster at Eton wrote that infamous letter - he really does think that he is above everything and uniquely qualified to rule - his lack of own awareness is astounding
