They all do the news I'm afraid. Plus dab can be a right load of shit. Sometimes I'm stuck with Jeremy Vine and a tomato growing Welsh bloke.

People think the virus is a problem, welcome to my world;-)
It’s been Chris Mason this week, as a Political Journalist he gets to the heart of the subject, had a few Covid related items, he’s been excellent, a good listen.

That sounds like Hell! ;-)

Only listen to Radio 4, so much more news, and I’ve heard a discernible difference in the reporting since the weekend. Every day the reports have been a little more optimistic, a little more reassuring, and while that may just be the ’end of term effect’ as we approach Christmas, it’s hard not to conclude that things are about to become much better. Then, of course, we can get back to being negative about all manner of other things…

Drakeford and Cranky are going to be so unpopular for effectively putting their population into a semi lockdown. it’ll be good to see as they’ve effectively ruined Christmas for a lot of people. We’ve put up with the rules (well the vast majority have) got vaccinated and will hopefully be enjoying the Christmas and New Year Holiday. Cranky in particular is going to be pilloried for “closing” Scotland during Hogmanay, could cost her job (hopefully), pair of smart arses just trying to be too clever.

Covid could overwhelm the NHS, better lock the public in. Nothing to do with it being neglected, abandoned, call it what you wish for years on end. I have no doubt that Covid will place a burden on the system but I have serious concerns that it is being exploited as a political tool for a crisis that's been brewing for years.B7A3ADE1-65F5-4593-A665-D2402420D37B.jpeg.a7e1d41a16bd246185d587f5e9add5fe.jpeg

Impossible to believe they didn’t know the reports and data that was about to be announced so you can’t help but feel they where desperate to announce the restrictions whilst they could and only they can answer why that was?

Let’s hope they get asked.

‘A lot of positivity on BM today, great to read.’

Well, that didn’t take you long! ;-)

I’m very positive, just mocking the Welsh and Scot’s Leaders as I really can’t stand the pair of them, they’ve jumped the gun and totally ignored what SA Scientists were telling us. In Wales it’s still ok to go indoors to pubs and restaurants (with restrictions) but attending outside sports events is not allowed, it’s pathetic.

Gordon Brown pressing for more vaccines to be sent to the developing world so as to stave off future variants, a call supported by the WHO. Fully agree but people need to be told that many doses are going to waste on account of vaccine hesitancy. The developed world can send as much as it can in 2022, but if that isn’t accompanied with an enormous education programme, then we might all be goosed.
I dont know much about Africa so cant comment too much, but from what Ive read the bigger problem is we are sending them vaccines with short expiry dates, in full knowledge they dont have the same ability to administer them as western nations.

That’s the gamble. We were too slow to respond to warning signs from other Countries in the first two waves and ended up with around 150k deaths. Policy was dictated by unachievable herd immunity and we ended up on our arses The Scot’s and Welshies may well have been too cautious this time and it’s great news they Omicron is far less deadly than previous variants.

Going to be an interesting few months/year in the UK. The NHS has been under the cosh for over a decade, as indeed has education, where many scientific advisors serve. These bodies/people, however, have now been elevated and find themselves wielding considerably more clout than they could have imagined. Politicians of all hues will want to wrestle that clout and attention back. The bigger question will be whether society wants to fund/overhaul these sectors properly, or whether in its rush to forget the last two years it ignores them again.

Fuck Covid I would just like to say. Positive lft for my wife today who has been very cautious but works in care with some idiots. I also work in care, hopefully continue to test negative or the pressure piles on my colleagues over Christmas.

Fucking fucking fucking fuck

Nigeria has just binned one million doses and not because they got them late. Most of these countries have a combination of lack of political will, hardly any infrastructure and a large proportion of people not the slightest bit interested in getting vaccinated as they have far more important things to worry about (like trying to earn enough to eat).

The Serum Institute in India said last week that they were scaling back production due to the lack of demand from Africa and similar regions. The West could send vast numbers of doses but there isn't the will or the means to deliver them.

As long as people catch COVID and have to self isolate the health service will be under threat. Doctors and nurses are unfortunately not immune. Omicron may be milder but people will still end up in hospital in large numbers at the same time as resources are stretched. Neither you or I know wether England has got this right or wether the more cautious approach in Scotland and Wales is more appropriate. Time will tell.

I don't know whos right or whos wrong but the Nigerians are saying they got our cast offs.

"We had developed countries that procured these vaccines and hoarded them," he said. "At the point they were about to expire, they offered them for donation."
