Will people still go for boosters when they read that protection wanes so quickly?
It’s only protection from catching it that reduces after 10 weeks. Protection from it spreading in your cells and making you ill lasts much longer.

Its only a glimmer of hope though remember.

Do as you are told, remain gripped by fear and always, always expect the worst!
The narrative has gone from we cannot rely on any data from SA as its not comparable to the UK to there is no indication that Omicron is any less severe than Delta, to well it might be less severe, to early signs show it may be less severe but we need more data, to well it could be 50 to 70% less severe but its only a glimmer of hope. and the vaccine wears out after 16 weeks. Give it another two weeks or so and I will bet my bottom dollar it will be exactly if not better than what the SA scientists said.

The UK scientists have seemingly ignored the uk data evidence of the vaccine effectiveness against Delta the past two months. cases doubling and hospital numbers dropping and deaths falling. Tightening the isolation rules the past two weeks which has resulted in staff shortages accross the NHS and other key areas. We have seemingly learnt nothing since we last did this. Why didnt the policy makers and modelling pick up this scenario, another cock up.

South Africa has scrapped self-isolation and testing for people without COVID-19 symptoms if they have been in contact with someone who is positive, the government has announced.

It said developments justified a shift from containment toward mitigation.
And exactly what we should be doing here. If you’re Unwell then stay at home, if not get to work. Jabs, boosters and just get on with it.

If that stat is true (not saying it isn’t, by the way), this should be reported more widely.

It is mate, 18 out of 19 current COVID inpatients are unvaccinated according to the trust’s daily report yesterday. Now it might be a freak occurrence from the current patient cohort and soon get back to the stat I’d previously seen which ~40% vaccinated / ~60% unvaccinated in hospital. But I do agree it is a stat they should be broadcasting

It's really worrying when medical professionals on the other side of the planet are more reliable than your own. Special mention for Dr Angelique Coetzee who was trying to give us the heads up but got ignored.
I heard her on the LBC interview and with Chris Mason on Radio 2 on Wednesday, she had a level of indignation that suggested she was not being listened to, quite incredible given her expertise and findings, I found her very engaging and someone who our Scientists should have taken notice of.

Thick cunts:

It's would be funny as fuck if it wasn't for the fact these people are serious. As well as medical experts they are all legal ones now too.

What's the betting that the Magna Carta was cited in the "legal papers"?

I'm convinced this whole thing is just a way for people with low status & intelligence to make themselves seem important in their own minds.

CHRISTMAS TREE OF HOPE

I posted this in the data thread but it was worth repeating here as it looks just like a Christmas tree and shows the ages of the 17,000 plus in Northern Ireland who have tested positive in the past 7 days.

Almost none in the older most vulnerable grpups who have the most vaccine protection. But would be the most likely to be in hospital or have complications.

Much less than was in the school ages and the highest is the 20 - 24 age who will have had the least vaccines. And probably the most reluctant.

But this tree shows the clear link between the boosters and NOT catching Covid.

Have a happy Christmas all.

Possibly also a link between going out on the piss and to parties? I imagine the tree for that would be very similar.

8 days for me having to do fuck all, with a sniffle not even worthy of being called a cold. Not one of my family has caught it yet, and not one person I was in contact with before testing positive has caught it either.

Something smells a bit fishy…(contents of baldrick’s underpants not withstanding)

Seen it countless times before but started watching ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ again as a little Christmas escapism. Got about seven minutes in when young George Bailey reads the the telegram to Mr Gower the druggist informing him that his son has died. Had never appreciated that it was of influenza and the telegram is dated May 1919.

The Canary Islands endorsing the use of covid passports as good as everywhere as law. I'm all fully jabbed but I feel this is a step too far

The Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands (TSJC) has ratified the request of the regional government for the use of the COVID certificate to be mandatory for access to hospitality, catering and leisure establishments, and some cultural venues including theatres and cinemas.

The TSJC has agreed to endorse the sanitary measures proposed by the Canary Islands Government for an initial period of one month from its publication in the Official Boletin of the Canary Islands (BOC), and a new authorization will be necessary if the Government wants an extension, according to a press release from the TSJC today (Friday).

Until now, the Canary Islands Government had offered the certificate for voluntary use by hospitality businesses, but given the advance of infections last Monday, asked the TSJC to make it mandatory.

The compulsory use of the Covid Certificate will come into force after its publication in the Official Boletin of the Canary Islands, and affects everyone over 12 years and 3 months old on the islands at alert Levels 3 and 4, who want to access certain establishments or public spaces.

This certificate will be required as proof of full vaccination, to show a negative Covid test result(self-diagnostic tests are not valid) carried out a maximum of 48 hours in advance, or a recovery certificate within the previous 11 and 180 days.

It will be compulsory in hotels, bars, and restaurants with a minimum capacity of 30 people, in nightlife establishments with the same capacity or in which, regardless of this, the consumption of food is allowed, as well as in betting and gambling venues.

The Covid Certificate must be presented to enter cinemas, theatres, auditoriums, and the like, with a capacity of 50 or more people or where eating or drinking is allowed; in gyms and sports centres, and in health and social health centres to accompany patients and users, with certain exceptions.

The Covid Certificate must also be presented to attend celebrations, music festivals, sporting events and public shows attended by more than 500 people or, in which it is allowed to eat or drink.

This requirement will not apply to the Canarian derby between Tenerife and Las Palmas, given that professional football and basketball have "a specific and singular regulation, with their own rules", according to the Government of the Canary Islands.

Seems fair enough. Many countries have a similar requirement (over here too).

That looks like an Xmas tree.

Apt.

I'm here now and we're at level three so not too bad, although they've reintroduced the wearing of masks outside which I hate. I don't want to carry my phone everywhere which is where my passes are. As all Brits have to be double jabbed it would be great if they gave us a pass on arrival we could use.
