Burns,Hameed and Bairstow are not test standard. Why?
Foakes needs to be given the gloves.
Time for Jimmy and Broad to retire.

It is our no 1 sport in summer.Just saying though, it's not our No 1 sport.
James Vince is the man with Nasser as manager/coach.Who can be our captain if Root steps down as captain? Can’t think of one we know they will give it Stokes! Maybe give it to Anderson now till he retires.
Tend to agree though I can see Hameed getting more time; just don’t think there’s much that can be changed. Unless someone is performing exceptionally for the Lions, I could see something like this starting in the Caribbean in March.Burns,Hameed and Bairstow are not test standard.

For the future, we've got to go with the likes of;
Pope
Sibley/Rhodes
Lawrence
Foakes
Overton
Archer (when fit)
As for the openers, maybe give Roy a go again, we're not blessed with depth are we Vince maybe?
Thankless job at the minute.

I bet most people complaining is this thread haven't been to a county championship game for a few years. It is our no 1 sport in summer.
Fair enough, but I’d rather they persist with a spinner in almost all Tests as opposed to rely on five of the same and then get found out again.Leach rather play with 10
The world test championship is, not some two horse race featuring average teams. Only Michael Vaughan types who never won anything claim it as a trophy.the worst team and test match england have ever played in (incredible)
lets break this down ?
Australia only made 267 and england could not score 268 with 20 wicket to make them bat again ? let that sink in
the ashes is the biggest contest in test cricket and you get 2 years home or away to build a team good enough to play for your country. a proud moment walking out in the ashes and you made it to the top. your deem good enough to play for england and fight for the right to play and try and win the ashes vs australia
but sorry this england squad did not win the right to be called test cricketers to play for england in the ashes
if your a england player this morning you stand down and walk away for test cricket and let somebody else have a go.
if you are that bad at your job you get the sack its that simple ? if you work at McDonald's and keep dropping the milk shakes your fired or if you work at a bank and make a mistake over and over again your sacked
what more can we say ?
enough is enough and change HAS to happen and nobody involved with this england team should be aloud to play for england in test cricket ever again. from the tea lady to joe root heads have to roll. i don't care who get the call to play in the next 2 test. in fact i don't see england playing them and will come home because of covid-19
Was thinking last year that County grounds could do more to attract people ‘WFH’, a trend that is likely to continue. They have tended to invest more in terms of catering for the corporate guests, but if they were more creative with things like ticketing/catering/internet/charging stations, they could attract a different kind of audience.I vet most people complaining is this thread haven't been to a county championship game for a few years.

Better than he thinks, yes, but arguably not better than a strike spinner, though I think we both agree that ‘who’ that is remains unknown. I’ve mentioned on here before that converting Moeen Ali from a promising batsman into a stop gap spinner, and then relying on him as a strike spinner, was a bad move, and one that probably led to the current situation. It just sends out the wrong signals to spinners in the County game, in my humble.Root is a better spinner he should be told he will be our main spinner
