I recall going to The Printworks with an old MGN workmate from those days, he reckoned that by 1am, there still wasn't as many pissed people staggering around as back when it was Maxwell House :D

I know of a good few of the old timers who were almost destroyed in the same way. They had lost WAY more than we young ones (at the time) did, just as they were coming up to retirement too. Bastid.

Epstein, Maxwell, Stewart Hall, Harris and Saville. All close friends of the house of Windsor. Factual but sure it is all a coincidence though.

Close friends is a stretch for some of those, things aren’t so black and white.

Andrew is definitely a wrongun tho.

I just think these predators manipulate themselves to a powerful level to fulfil their desires and are good at it.

Sweaty nonce asked to prove his claim about not being able to sweat are based in fact, obviously because if he isn't able to evidence that is, the court is likely to look on his version of events as less credible because he has gone on national TV and told porky pies.

It was common knowledge that Maxwell was a crook but he had the countries top libel lawyers on permanent retainers to stop anything being published. Private Eye did their best to get the truth out over the years but there was no way they could take him on financially so it had to be very circumspect. The print unions couldn't handle him either as they would spend months negotiating something with him before he would explode in a mad rage and throw it all out (I knew people who directly had dealings with him).

He was a psychopathic fraud throughout his life and it's a real pity he didn't die screaming.

My old fella was FOC at the Daily Express on Ancoats Lane from mid 50's till he retired in the 70's

It might be but he claimed he was diagnosed when serving in the navy so there must be a record somewhere.

He was a very powerful man then :)

I started at my old company in 1977 and it was hard to believe how much power the union (NATSOPA) had there. Anything to do with production such as overtime had to be negotiated with the FOC before anything could happen. If they needed one guy to stay on for half a hour to get an urgent job out the management would engage in talks with the FOC and an agreement was usually reached on the basis that six guys would get two hours at overtime rate.
