I don't see any issue in terms of depth related to defense.

You have 4 quality centre-backs there and 2 best fullbacks in the world, plus Zinchenko.
Cancelo can play both fullback positions - so he covers Walker and is first-choice LB as well.
Zinchenko covers for Cancelo
If needed (like today for example) Ake covers Zinchenko or Stones covers Cancelo.
Laporte and Ruben also can cover those zones.

So you don't need to invest 50m or whatever it will be - in Digne..

Right now, we have problem in terms of depth in midfield..

During the past two years, we aren't able to cover Gundogan's LCM position.. Bernardo is shite there, KDB also isn't as comfortable as we would like and yet Pep hasn't tried Grealish or Foden there to check if they are suitable. So it means that only quality LCM we have right now is Gundogan and that's the problem - if he is injured.

In addition to that, Fernandinho will probably retire and Rodri also needs some cover.
Gundogan is 32 this year and KDB 31, plus we know about their endless injuries during the past years..

So, clubs needs to invest in midfield area and buy decent "universal midfielder".. For example -> Frenkie Dejong, who will cost like 50-70m or more, but will cover Rodri`s DM zone and play Gundo`s LCM as well..

That's all.. Everything is fine, other than that..
Palmer, Macatee, Delap and Kayky need some minutes - so strengthening attack isn't an option for me - I would rather watch these kids develop and progress like Foden did..
 
We should strengthen if possible at DM this window imo. Everyone absolutely adores Fernandinho no doubt but if Rodri gets a lengthy spell out then we could be in trouble as dinho couldn’t do 2-3 games a week for a period of time!

That lead will be less tomorrow. We have more games played than both Chelsea and the dippers.
We may not buy but our squad, though very talented, is also very small.

It will be less tomorrow, yes. But Pep is happy with where we are right now. We won’t make a move for anyone in Jan. Big summer though.

You say that but Klopp told everyone we had 2 world class players for each position and that has come gospel with the cult now.

Heard it off at least 3 now, none who have said it before.

If you're keen on defensive positional awareness, wait til you see Digne try to play Pep's way. It's not his strength.
 
Have they changed the rules about players swapping clubs mid-season? I thought if any player had played in European competition for one club they could not play for another club in the same season, so there is no point in bringing anyone in from another Champions League club until the summer. By all means pursue Haaland or whoever but nobody from a club still involved in European competition would want to move until the summer window.

Yeah, Barcelona had it changed when they signed Coutinho from Liverpool. No cup tie anymore

I doubt we’re going to sign a specialised left back that is worse than our two stand in left backs.
We have two obvious positions that need addressing.
 
Xavi openly said today Barcelona can't yet register torres, players have to leave before January. Or take pay cuts (namechecked Dembele).

Maybe there is something for an answer to the common question on here of why didn't we drag it out more and why did we make it so easy for Barcelona to seal it so quickly. maybe it was US that wanted it done quickly, pick a reason, and gave Barcelona a favourable price if they got it over before the window started.
 
That's really spreading our 4th dimension chess game mindfuck strategy . obviously we have perfected it against the scum, so now we are seeing if it works against European teams!!!

Digne is 28, massively injury prone, terrible attitude. A player like him was booted from the squad on disciplinary basis, and he's currently on the bench as their veteran right back Seamus Coleman is playing at left back. Stay well clear, let Chelsea or someone get him, we don't want passengers in this side.

I'd agree with you in terms of quality he has but those 2 factors have to be taken into account as well.

nah, hes not. He;s missed 12 games in 4 seasons at everton.
