The Colston Four

Except I wasn't, did you object to pale faced and 28 yr old as well?

It is an accurate term, homosexuals self identify with and not a slur. The only mocking was the use of his nick name.

Both of you and Mr DG share "gammon tendencies".
gammon is pub food. Anyone who uses it out of that context is invalidated by having to resort to using it.

I suppose if we accept the right of the queen to give Tony Blair a knighthood, then we must also accept the result of a jury. I'm content to accept both.

Only the ones that it meant to.

I am middle aged and white but doubt I will ever be considerrd a gammon with my views and lack of rage over fuck all.
Everyone experiences rage, it’s healthy sometimes when there’s injustice.

I’ll never be a gammon as I’m mixed race but I would never bring up your skin colour as a negative.

The thing is the origins of this very british insult stem back 400 years and has been used to insult those with little argument or knowledge and so rant and rage at percieved threats and use bluster and patriotic guff.

It was not about skin colour it was On the redness the face would go when angry and ranting not because a person is white.

It went out of fashion as an insult for such fake patriots but resurfaced when Cameron was refered to has having a face like a boiled ham and brexit then made it a social media favourite.

Anyone with such beliefs or rants can be refered to as a gammon tbf.

Who’s called him gammon other than you?

Gammon I thought specifically refers to an angry white man who goes pink.

He is going red in the face and getting "hot under the collar" and reacting in an extreme fashion to Charlie Stayt taking the piss about the size of a minister's flag , why can't we call him Gammon?

Here you go, someone else calling him Gammon.

if they were so obscure they wouldn't have been pulled down in the first place. Have you been to Colston Hall in Bristol? Nice venue.

It’s obscure for anyone who hasn't visited Bristol or has no connection, it wasn't a national monument.

It’s not called that anymore. I lived in the city for 4 years and have visited countless times so have spent plenty of time there and know where the three prominent landmarks (formerly) bearing his name (the other being the girl's school) are in relation to each other.

cool. People can change its name but like the MEN its most prominent and recognisable name is how it'll be known.

It's a good point. Getting our society to split into two angry tribes spitting the terms 'woke' or 'gammon' at each other has probably been one of the more spectacular examples of divide and rule in our nation's history. It's weird that within the last 10-15 years we've gone from there not being much discernable difference between left and right (a concern during the end of 'new labour') to a point where we apparently have no centre.

Think there’s still quite a lot of people in the middle just sat there despairing at the whole thing tbh.
