Its this loss of freedom of speech angle which is just so much bullshit - there has to be boundaries you cannot have the right to go around causing people upset with no comeback on you. Frankly I am amazed that poster is on BM given that there are rules and his freedom of speech as he sees it is curbed by the imposition of the CoC - odd isn't it?

Try explaining our freedom of speech laws to Americans. Their First Amendment is fiercely protected.
 
Freedom of speech used to actually mean something but has since been taken over by absolute fuckwits who use it as a defence when caught spreading hate, spite, bile and aggression.
Whenever I see somebody use that phrase these days it's usually in relation to them saying something fucking stupid. It's left the original meaning diluted beyod recognition and something held sacred for so long into just another buzzword.

Yep. The way I see it is this. The bellends you speak of wouldn’t be quite so vocal about the right to freedom of speech if a paedo was stood on their street corner with a megaphone telling passers-by that it’s ok to sexually abuse kids.

Amazing how many of the people who say this are generally racist or just generally lacking in both intelligence and civility.

We have not, and, I’m sure, have never had, free speech in Britain.

We have a freedom of expression, which allows people the right to have their voice heard; but we have never been able to just say whatever we wanted.

Like you say, there are laws that limit the things we say. Speech is not free.
