Out of interest, who are some of your own most played artists on Spotify?
I'm too embarrassed to say! They're not awful choices imo but music is one of those things that you have a unique connection with. I wouldn't want my love of Boyzone, Cliff Richard etc ;) to be ruined when you lot slate it.
I did notice that in my top ten that I have artists/bands that started their careers in the 2010s, 2000s, 1990s, 1980s, 1960s and 1950s. But nothing from the 1970s interestingly.

Ian Watkins/Lostprophets music has been removed from Spotify for years.
R Kelly's music was removed, then brought back but removed from all playlists and they introduced a mute function to block him. So you can search him out if you want but you really have to want to.

Joe Rogan normalizes extremist views for money. That makes him a whore who produces porn. He can’t be Howard Stern because Howard Stern already produced actual porn. So Joe’s turned to socio-political porn. His listeners and defenders enjoy and defend his right to produce porn because they like to wank to it. I doubt you have any more faith in humanity than anyone else — maybe you just enjoy porn more than others do.Stupid takes many forms and most of us exhibit one or two of them. Rogan does seem to be open minded about pretty much everything and some people just feel threatened by anything that doesn't conform to their own view. He does seem to attract some 'gamey' guests that generally wouldn't get airtime anywhere else and I think that also troubles some folk who feel their fellow humans need protected from certain ideas, perspectives and points of view. I still have enough faith in humanity to think they are entitled to make their own minds up. I'm more worried about the glamourisation of the kray twins, and wierd amount of time devoted to Hitler and his mates in documentaries than anything Rogan does. I find rogans 3-4hr format boring tbh.

I think I admire NY stance on this. Any artists no matter how big wants people to listen to their music. I think Spotify is one of the biggest platforms (if not the biggest) and for him to take this stance is admirable. Neil will lose income not being on there and Spotify will lose customers like me. He is saying that if we all got the vaccine and we all wore masks we would lick this virus a hell of a lot quicker. And people like Joe Rogan are promoting the opposite, costing more lives (like Meatloaf) and prolonging the epidemic.
I agree with him.
He took a stance quite a few years ago against artists promoting consumable products. And made a video including people like Michael Jackson (Forward the vid to 50 seconds).

Just to be clear, there was no decision on Spotify’s part. Neil Young requested the removal of his songs and his record company agreed to do it.
