That looks like a panic move, sacking Johnson. Yes, 6-0 at Bolton is a pretty horrendous result. But look at the League 1 table, they're pretty firmly ensconced in the play off spots.

Give it to Grant McCann. Got Hull up and they were consolidating in the 2nd division with a small budget. Previously did a good job at Donny in the 3rd. He's a stable character and good man manager.

Signing Defoe could be a master stroke for the Mackems. At the very least it should give the place a lift and if he weighs in with a few goals then it might, just might, get them back as promotion front runners. On our local TV news tonight it was suggested that Lee Johnson had resisted signing him and that was a contributory factor in his sacking.
The hammering at Bolton was the straw that broke the camel's back.
