Punk and New Wave thread.

This is about UK Subs, my favourite Punk band back then. The Pistols and the Clash were much more famous but they weren't as good as the Subs, IMO of course. And Charlie Harper is still rocking the Subs at the grand old age of 77, and counting! : )

I had Teenage by UK Subs on Pink Vinyl - Charlie Harper must have been late 30's when it came out!

Charlie was a few days off his 37th birthday when Teenage was released so the old git wished he was teenage! : )

I had all but one of their singles on coloured vinyl to Keep On Running 7", but for some reason i bought Teenage on black vinyl. I seem to recall buying it from Woolies ex chart bargain bin for 50p iirc, so that's why I didn't bother buying it again on pink.

I always liked their B-sides, unlike some punk bands B-sides that were crap. I played these tracks as much (if not more) as Teenage

Loved those 1980 era coloured punk vinyls; "Warhead" on brown vinyl (good B-side there), Crass singles too. Endlessly fascinating to a 15 year old Unicorn.

love left for dead, but emotional blackmail is their best for me by a country mile

UK Subs were founded in late 76 as the(then) Subversitives by Charlie Harper. He was heavily into R&B at the time and their first album, Another Kind Of Blues was a kind of punked up blues album, hence the title name.

Original lineup was Harper (Vocals and Harmonica) Nicky Garrett(Guitar) Paul Slack(Bass) Paul Davies (drums)

C.I.D (EP) was their first single in 1978 available on green and black vinyl.

C.I.D
Live In A Car -1:56
B.1.C -3:22

Their second single in 79 was a Zombies cover, She's Not There. For some reason or another bass player Paul slack sang this whilst Charlie Harper played rhythm guitar. This was a 4 track 7" Ep available on green vinyl.

Teenage was Uk Subs next single, MES and myself covered that a page or two back.

In 1980 Subs brought out Warhead, the 7" three track EP available on brown vinyl.
Warhead is perhaps best remembered for it's distinct and instantly recognisable base guitar.

Third track is a Velvet Underground cover.
