Punk and New Wave thread.

John McGeogh was just amazing on the Banshees album Juju

Completely agree. Mind you, I think the Banshees were criminally underrated on the whole anyway.

JuJu is a brilliant album.

I love that story about when the Bromley Contingent went to Paris to see the Pistols and got attacked by a load of Algerians. Most of the blokes melted but Siouxie stood her ground.

I think I might have fallen in love with her for that alone!

Was lucky enough to be a teenager working and living in London when punk all kicked off and managed to see pretty much all of the big names.

Good times.

When Siouxsie had her solo album out 10 years ago, she appeared on some Channel 4 programme coming from Manchester along with Hard Fi and Kate Nash.
I nanaged to get an AAA ticket but didnt want to stalk her....
Siouxsie did 2 numbers (and did them both twice, the show was recorded and shown the following week) anyway after Hard Fi played 70% of the audience fucked off despite pleas from the TV people to stay.
So Kate Nash closed the show and they asked us all to huddle up to make it look packed!
When she finished i turn around and Siouxsie is stood right behind me.... I melted.... And told her i had come to see her and the first time i saw her was the Elephant Fayre in Cornwall and she interupted me and said "1982"
"Yes" I replied and said I still have the ticket!
Her manager joined us and ahe said she was doing a tour and where should she play in Manchester. I said the Apollo would be too big but Academy 1 or definitely 2 be right size.
A month later the tour is announced and she played Academy 2.
We had to have phones switched off inside so sadly no picture :(

Banshees played MCR Apollo mate, saw them twice there between 80-84. Not seen them since. Must do so whilst they are still performing.

*glances over at his framed tickets*
15th June 84
15th October 85
13th September 88

Doubt they will play again...not sure how amicable Siouxsie and Budgie's divorce was and Severin has been quite ill for a while
