No idea... Only joined after the takeover.

Mind you, I've been City fan for well over 40 years though ;-)
Who was it who said when we won our first prem that that was it for him and all he wanted was the prem and giving up football and city forever. Strange person that.

I didn't say that on here but I definitely thought about it over that summer, how do you top the Aguero moment?
I carried on going though.

A bit late to the show but I found this tweet interesting, particularly considering the mature response to the 2020 CAS judgement on City...

Everyone on the planet knows exactly what the results of his "big project" are going to show. Curiously, they will reveal "what a possible independent regulator might / should so (sic)" (presumably he means "do") which will coincide exactly with his own obsessive views and involve dismantling every aspect of City's very successful business model.

Presumably he thinks that going through this charade and dressing it up as some sort of "research" will lend it faux gravitas when he submits it to the regulator, or more likely, uses a newspaper to promote it. Sadly for Nick, his independence has been thoroughly compromised and we're all laughing at him.

Slightly going off topic here but last night I flicked over to BT at half time of the old firm and found a rerun of City beating Peps Bayern at the Etihad.
Great game and result but what was even more striking was the commentary.
As Aguero went through and scored the winner in injury time (his hatrick) Andy Townsend shouts "get in".
Fast forward a few years and the change from positive commentary to now negative commentary on our games is huge.
Was BT being nice at the time as they didn't see us as much of a threat in champs league back then?
If so why are they wankers with us now when we still haven't won it?

As below:

153. Nick Harris is a sportswriter, researcher, and analyst, specialising in the business and finance of sport, particularly football. He provides evidence about the earnings that might be achieved by professional footballers. There was a lively debate as to whether his evidence amounted to factual or expert evidence. I am satisfied that in all material respects it amounts to factual evidence, for the reasons given by Cavanagh J at a preliminary hearing (see TVZ at [122]-[130]) and for the (same) reasons I gave at the pre-trial review on 28 July 2021.

154. Mr Harris explains that the earnings figures of individual footballers are not, generally, publicly available. More general information is available from four sources. First, the Football League has produced average basic wages for professional footballers for each year from 1984 to 2015, broken down by league division. These figures do not include bonus payments and, because they are the average of all players in a division (so including reserve team players), they are not representative of those who regularly play for a club’s first team.
155. Nick Harris is a very insecure little man who cries after he's masturbated over inappropriate things

I’ve been city fan since the age of six not 2008. So nearly sixty years later( god I feel old saying that) I still love this club. It’s brought joy and dispair in unequal measure over the years and what I’m witnessing now is a blessing. So inter me nan there will be other days or nights for you to enjoy an aguero moment has foden smashes a thunderbastard on 93-20 to win the European cup this year.

Yeah you put it better than me.

My main point was our owner didn’t say here the money and it’s 0% apr like chelsea owner does. We went and got a loan to cover certain things in the CFG.

Think we do have debt but it’s debt that we can’t pay it up.
No City debt. The borrowing was by CFG which is a different legal entity. The only downside risk for City is that, in the unlikely event of CFG being insolvent, they would have to sell assets. We are their biggest asset, being a wholly owned subsidiary.
There is sometimes confusion when people talk about CFG and call them "we". They are they and we are we!

Hasn't he got it arse backwards anyway? We were laughing at him being called as an expert in anything before he "announced" his little project?

Still reading Nick?

Agree, probably their best song. Maybe too personal to be anything other than a B-side?
Absolutely brilliant song, not listened to it for years. I agree it's probably their best, they have some absolute gems that weren't singles - always liked Bullet the Blue Sky and Until the End of the World (post-cowboy hat though), and Unforgettable Fire (although I think that might have actually been a single).

U2 get thrown in with Queen and Coldplay as the bands it's cool to hate (justified in Queen and Coldplay's case imo), but I think it clouds people's judgement of U2, they've got an incredible back catalogue.

The hate started when Pep joined. Non if human rights, bungs, state owned, none of it mattered until the 2nd season when it became clear Pep WOULD ruin the premier hierarchy.

When Pep leaves non of it will matter again.

Its been marvelous watching them cry, its been the time of my life watching City win all the stuff they would normally win, and then watching them cry again. I'v absolutely loved going onto opposition forums just to see their anguish and bitterness.

“Unlimited resources” is the favourite phrase of the WhatsApp group
We (thankfully as it turned out) lost out on Ronaldo, Kane, Maguire, Sanchez, Fred, Van Persie, Hazzard etc due to finance. We wouldn’t pay the numbers but others would.
These fucking cretins don’t stand up to even the most basic logical scrutiny
RVP as I was told was down to Bobby Manc not getting back in touch with him, hence his later move to the rags.
Not looking for an argument if you know better :-)

I thought we just consciously reined in our spending?
Mancini really was stitched up with that window, an absolute shocker when you have just won the league

Other than Maicon, I was reasonably happy, I thought it was the start of buying young talent and keeping going well.

sadly the talent wasn’t forthcoming, though I liked what I saw of nastasic

BT Sport 2: 4pm to 11:30pm

F**k me 1 and 3 send shivers down my spine :-(
I agree, but the two we were always linked with never showed and the end of that season prior to the FA cup prior to kick off I think most blues knew Bobby was on his way.
